First Time Water Softener Owner Question(s)
My wife and I just recently purchased a home with a Genesis Upflow water softener system installed. Admittedly, we know virtually nothing about maintaining a water softener system and the manual it came with only contains installation instructions… I called the support line to ask about recommended maintenance and all they really had to say was “lol just put salt in it bro”.
I have added one bad of salt since we moved in a month ago and have another bag at the ready.
I was wondering if you kind folks could answer some questions for us:
- How full should I keep the salt bin, is one bag every month or so good?
- What does the gallons remaining number mean on the screen? (Pics attached). I have slowly watch it decrease from over 1000 gallons to what it currently sits at around ~160 gallons…
- any other recommended maintenance?
