Cofffffeeeee

Morning of day 12 here and I still haven’t had coffee. Is it ok to drink lukewarm? Does it sting because it’s acidic? I think some coffee might help in the 💩category. 😂

Day 9 hanging in there

Hi surgery buddies! My worst pain has been yesterday and today but still managing with the regular meds. I drove to the store for grocery pickup so that was cool! I feel like I’ve been pretty lucky so far and still have no idea how anyone could be expected to go back to work after 10 days! That’s insane to me! How are you all faring?

Day 7

Day 7 is coming to a close. I was pretty freaked out about day 7 but I’ve survived. I had a little harder time eating today because the scabs are starting to shed and I just don’t feel like the same stuff again. As I type this, I notice I’m hungry though so I’ll get myself some vanilla ice cream! I found myself resting a lot this morning but had more energy for a while this evening. Made sure not to overdo it. Ears hurt but they hurt from the stones before so it’s nothing new, well, more intense. Throat feels like the itchy stabby glass others have talked about but my pain meds are still working. I haven’t taken my regular meds for my UC and RA since the week before surgery but I think laying low is helping not to flare. My pills for the UC are huge so there’s that.
I’m still waiting for the bad pain day. Maybe I’ll have it, maybe I won’t. But I’m not ready to say I’m good to go! How are all my surgery buddies doing today?

Day 6 things learned

Checking in because it makes me feel better. Here are things I learned days 5/6.

Sneezing is freaking scary shit! But I didn’t die so there’s a win.

I can stop a scary yawn by clenching my teeth.

Pureed Progresso split pea and ham soup is very satisfying.

Tap water is now better than ice water.

Mashed baked sweet potato and vanilla ice cream is a quality supper.

Pain is still tolerable with my celebrex and Tylenol. I contacted my doctor today to ask about diet moving forward. Cold or cool smooth/soft foods for the whole 2-3 week recovery here. It still baffles me how different recovery is in different areas of the world.

Day 4

Day 4. For reference, 56 yo/f. Kinda feel like I’m still in the relative honeymoon phase. Pain is manageable with celebrex and Tylenol. Throat is totally coated white. I discovered a couple things. A made a banana and kefir smoothie last night and one sip burned like a mf’er. Maple yogurt is good. Puréed chicken noodle or lentil soup isn’t bad, cold of course. A little raw honey when I feel a cough coming on is amazing! My dad (folks live with us) just made two poached eggs and I ate them at room temperature and they were sooooo good! Big fan! I’m a very active granny who runs ultras so this sitting around is weird but I’m embracing the crap out of it! Here to chat if anyone needs while I sit here being cautiously optimistic.

Day 3 post tonsillectomy

I am so very thankful for this community! You’ve gotten me through my first three days! I didn’t even have Reddit on my phone until I started freaking out after surgery! The anxiety was through the roof! First question for you all. My throat is already all covered in white. Am I an early scabber? I’ve been hydrating well and pooped today! Baby food, applesauce, puréed soup at room temperature, jello, popsicles, and yogurt are my friends. Meds are Celebrex, Tylenol, snd Medrol taper. Haven’t given in yo the oxycodone yet and I hope I don’t have to.
