Pride feels different this year

Hi y’all! Doom Loop Nails here. If you don’t know us, we’re a small LGBTQIA+ and Latino-owned indie nail polish brand based in San Francisco. And we have some thoughts, and a couple new collections.

As this nightmare administration chugs ever onward, we feel like Pride has become more essential than ever. This current T2.0 admin is targeting queer and transgender people in ways we haven’t seen in decades. So while Pride is often a celebration, it’s so important to remember it’s much more than that. It’s visibility, it’s hope, and a demonstration of power and solidarity.

It’s pretty hard to see the celebration side of things right now, so our first of two Pride collections this year is a bit on the deeper, more introspective, and emotional side. Think of the sun sinking into the marine layer, lights muted through evening fog and humid salty winds. The City comes alive in a particular way at night, and Pride is no exception. If you’ve ever been in San Francisco for Pride, you know the whole city celebrates.

PRIDE CITY NIGHTS is our take on the classic rainbow, filtered through dusk and memories. 5 shimmering moody jellies, each with a unique sparkle to catch the reflections and lights. We hope you love them as much as we do.

As part of this year’s Pride launch, we donated to the Black LGBTQIA+ Migrant Project at the Transgender Law Center, one of the largest trans-led advocacy organizations in the United States, as we personally believe the transgender community has been heavily targeted by this current T2.0 administration.

We also have collaborated with @PlayfulPolishPal on Instagram to create TOMORROW’S PARTIES - a Trans Pride trio and our second of two Pride collections this year. A set of three beautiful flakies, featuring ethereal blue, pink, and the midnight BLUE HOUR BREAK, inspired by the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot in 1966 in the San Francisco Tenderloin, the first documented collective action in the U.S. in the fight for queer and transgender rights.

Thanks so much for all your support and Happy Pride to you all!
