18 years. Is it time to let her go?

Hi, everyone. I’m looking for honest advice from other pet owners/beagle lovers. Danny might turn 19 this year, and I’ve been wondering if it may be time to let her go. She doesn’t seem to be in pain, but her mood is usually low, she no longer wags her tail, she stumbles a little when she walks, and her back legs seem weak. The vet has suggested putting her to sleep. He says it's best to do it before she gets sick (she does not have any disease atm).

Honestly, I would love for her to pass away peacefully in her sleep, but I don’t know if I’m being selfish. I would really appreciate any advice or experiences you’d be willing to share. Thank you so much in advance.
