4 month old refuses pacifiers — is there still hope?
My baby is 4 months old and we’ve made it this far without a pacifier because my husband was really against it (he thinks it’s not natural, that she’ll eat less, and that it could affect speech). But honestly, I’ve reached a point where I can’t do it anymore and decided to try one because I’m EBF and she needs me to fall asleep, and also to go back to sleep multiple times every night.
I feel like if she took a pacifier, maybe she could soothe herself a bit more and sleep better. But now that I’ve tried (4 different ones already), she doesn’t seem to like any of them. With two of them she almost gags, and with the other two it seems like she doesn’t really know how to suck on them and just spits them out.
Is there still hope at this age? Is it worth continuing to try, or does my husband actually have a point? And if it’s worth trying, should I keep offering the same one consistently or keep buying different types?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s gone through something similar.
