18 year old son with brown spots after sun exposure
My 18yo son went to the beach a couple of weeks ago. Tonight I noticed he had several brown spots on his lower abdomen. He also has, what appears to be brown petechiae, on his side and arm. He said he assumed it was sun spots. I don’t think that is what it is, but I’m not sure what else it could be.
I suggested he see a dermatologist, but he now thinks he has cancer. I suggested we wait a week to see if it starts to go away, maybe to ease his mind.
He stated he didn’t use any tanning lotion or sunblock. He did say it itched at the very beginning but no longer itches, and that it has been a brown color the entire time. He does not think he was bit by anything. I thought they could be bruises, but honestly it does not look like bruises and he said he has no reason to believe it is bruises.
I searched all over the internet and can’t find anything that resembles it. I just find it very unlikely that he developed sun spots over night. 🤷♀️
