Season 5 has been the best
I've seen a few posts griping about season 5. I just don't get it, season 5 has had the best narrative so far. At no point did it feel cheesey or unearned. The writers this season really made up for the narrative fail with the whole Jimmy and Danny stevens nonsense. And as much as I love this show, it's had a varying "cheesy factor" the entire time until now. Plenty of narratives have been great, but equally as many felt campy somehow. Season 5 is on par with the expanse, and if that's an issue for you, well you just have poor taste in television. The science is still here, the stakes are higher than ever, and the legacy are living on. The introduction of Avery was a solid move. Kelly taking a step out of the reserved scientist and into her father's shoes is a total "fuck yeah" moment. Alex and Lilly are so goddamn cute together it just makes my heart melt, magnitudes more than any of the other couples on the show. Then there's Aleida being her same old self , just focused on the mission and fuck everything else, except she does deeply care about mars, she wouldn't have helped steel Goldilocks of she didn't. And I guarantee you she will be new mars governor when this season is over, without a doubt.
I will concede the way they sent off Ed with the flashbacks was...a choice, but the events leading up to that were awesome. And Boyd? She's practically carrying the whole season on her own, and she's bringing some serious S.T.A.R.S. or V.S.S.E energy to the board and I fucking love it.
I just don't get how anyone could dislike this season. It's unequivocally the best so far.
