Talk me out of my ski choice

As the subject suggests, talk me out of my ski choice - I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on a pair of Head Shape e-V8’s with PR 13 bindings. 170cm length. It’s my first pair of skis in about 20 years… ski team (GS mainly / some Super G) in high school, but skied rarely until last year.. I’m 45 now, 260 pounds, and happy to ski from opening to about 1pm. Groomers pretty much exclusively. Might venture into trees at some point, but no bumps or freestyle parks in my future.

Last year I was renting mostly 160 length skis - local mountain carried rossignol experiences. They were fun and light… and unstable / too bendy, but while I’m working on getting back in shape, the light weight helped max my runs before I was gassed embarrassingly too soon the day.

Everything online screams I need to get as long of a ski as I can get given my weight. In this case, the V8 goes up to 177. Do I really need the extra length (and ski weight), or can I save the weight and still have fun with the 170 length, convincing myself I’m letting it rip like I did in high school but actually skiing like a weekend warrior jerry (sigh)?

Oh, and feel free to comment on the bindings (PR 13’s). I’d like to keep the knees out of the operating room, so from what I’ve read these are great for injury prevention and with a din setting of around 9, I’m right on the line between ideal for PR11 or 13 (thus the 13 choice), but happy to hear any thoughts on those or similar.

Thanks for any input / thoughts!
