Welcome To Our Beautiful Backrooms Base
The design is very human!
Its crazy to me that one small pads on the Kraken is bigger than the Ironclad hanger
Wow i can't wait to see how far people push the Kraken's carrier capabilities. These pads may also be a bit bigger looking at the images in the Jump Point magazine. If you owned one / when yours comes to the game what will you try and put on the deck? Also in the Hangars?
Edit: Please don't take the title too seriously i kinda goofed when writing it, I find it very cool to compare the Ironclad cargo bay to the Kraken small pads. Because they're the same manufacturer and alot of us have seen how massive the Ironclad bay is. So putting it next to the pad and then being similar sizes the SCALE of the Kraken is crazy to me! I just wanted to share my awe with people. :)
Also HANGAR* I'm sorry 😂🙏
Posting all the new Kraken images in the highest quality pulled straight from the magazine, there's 28 new images! The ones missing from post will be in the comments. If you want to discuss the changes I have 2 prior posts doing just that linked below as well as the magazine itself.
Was phenomenal and I'd recommend anyone who's very interested in the kraken check it out. Kind of a follow up to my last post too alot of the questions or concerns I had have been answered and overall I feel very positive about the new changes!
No the side turrets aren't gone you can see them on the white box images 3/4 of them are visible in the magazine! She also has PDCs!
The Kraken has gained a substantial increase to its internal volume and pretty much all of the shrinking was the antenna moving and the unusable space in the nose being nipped and making it easier to land in an XL hanger without scraping paint!
With the width increase there's a chance we get an SCU increase due the cargo bay being wider, though this could also be due to them needing to grow it so it can fit the stated 3792 SCU of cargo.
It also looks like the added geometry on the flight deck also could be for concealing a cargo lift from the deck to the aircar. As well as the width of the main deck increasing the small pads have had the same treatment and have gotten a bit wider too! This is likely to bring them to metric with current small and medium ships. I imagine the same will go for the internal hangers to accommodate most/all the XS ships!
I do like that they moved the dragonfly bay so it's down near the cargo and is accessible via ramp, with the caveat that I hope the ramp has a separate toggle than the door. So we don't have a floating ramp in space!
I also hope we get rooms like a brig and a pilot ready room. we know that it's getting a holotable, also a dedicated ATC chair would be cool with controls for the internal hangers and cameras perhaps even gravity control for the pads or something like that!
I do hope we get a few extra habs to accommodate 2 person fighters, aswell as some medium ships without beds plus the ships in the hangers.
Also Starjump Grim & DadBodBard hit 80k in lifetime funding for St Jude! Congrats to them for that amazing milestone!
Any questions or speculations? Let's talk about it :)
I will add the link the the St Jude tiltify when I can find it if you donate you also enter a giveaway for a select ship or multiple!
Here it is:
I love what they've done with the Kraken! They did shrink it by 10 metres length wise and 4 height wise. Comparing it to the concept model it seems it actually has more space, the main corridor is wider and so is the cargo area at the back, the deck may also be a bit wider which is awesome.
The weapons look awesome (although it looks like the greybox model has no guns showing as it's a WIP).
The bridge windows are much bigger and it looks like we'll have great visibility, also the geometry on the starboard side of the bridge looks awesome! I love how it's held up by 1 strut very drake! 🤣
The chairs on the bridge look very distinct from anything else we've seen I love them!
The docking collars have windows now!
The nose has a walkway that I am praying has gravity plates!
I can't spot most of the landing gear they must be hidden well, but the FRONT gear looks awesome there's multiple layers of what look like walkways when they're extended. How do we get on them? Do they lead onto the ship when the gear are raised?
The gravity generator room also has that "drake" flair to it can't wait to walk through it!
The only "concern" I have is we haven't seen if the main landing deck has cargo lifts which it kinda needs to get cargo from the ships on the main deck onto the air car and then into the hold! Other than that I'm very happy with the progress they've made and I'm exited to see more.
What does everyone else think I'd love to hear your thoughts on it all! Let's deep dive this together!
