Impact of layoff before AC21 portability
Hi there, I’m worried about getting laid off before my AC21 portability kicks July 19.
Some questions
- in case of a layoff, I wonder if the case may get approved before my employer would report the layoff to USCIS.
- Does USCIS actively check if employment is still current/valid at time of approval? Or only in rare cases via RFE?
- if I get laid off after portability kicks, could I get approved while I search for job if I hav proof of applications or do i need a valid job offer?
- do companies sometimes extend payroll/employment to help people with immigration? For context, I work for a tech company with 8-9k people.
Also curious, since I didn’t get a combo card with my EAD approval. How long does it typically take to get separate AP approval?
Anything else I should know?
