I have been trying to get rid of a stubborn batch of chin hair with electrolysis. More than 1.5 years, I feel like I have barely made any progress. I tried out a new provider today (there are only two in my area) and would be grateful if you could help me figure out whom to continue with, as both have their pros and cons...
My electrologist. I have been going there since autumn 2024, for a total of 25 treatments, which usually last for 15-20 minutes (full clearance). The price is very reasonable and it's easy to book an appointment that fits my schedule. I went once a month for the first 4 months and then switched to every 2-3 weeks, with longer breaks (6 weeks) whenever she is on vacation. Twice I thought I have finally made some progress, with virtually no hair growth for three weeks, but after a few more weeks they always come back. In comparison pictures, there is sometimes little hair, sometimes a lot, so it's hard to assess if it's all new hair growing or if there is just no progress. 1.5 years in, I feel like there should be more progress. She has a lot of clients so I always thought the problem is me. What makes me skeptical is that I often feel a tugging/plucking sensation, which I read should not be the case. Because there is now a holiday break and I have so much hair again after just a short time, I decided to book an appointment with electrologist number 2.
Was very positive that she would get rid of my hair within a few months. Could not believe that I have done so much time with little progress alrady. She was adamant that there should be no tugging/plucking sensation, but that lack of progress is also because I am shaving in between sessions, which apparently hinders the electrolysis progress so it cannot work. Shaving is strictly forbidden. She also pushed me into buying a special hairreduction enzyme set, which apparently all her clients have to use because it supports the electrolysis process. Both the shaving and the enzymes don't convice me at all, it's twice as expensive and more complicated to book. Buuut there was no tugging or plucking sensation whatever, just pain and then nothing. Skin looks good too.
Those are my options. What do you think?
