What to do about the ANNOYING itching feeling?

Does anyone else have rosacea where the skin FEELS much worse than it LOOKS?

I'm hoping someone can relate because this has been driving me crazy.

My skin doesn't actually look that bad. I have some flushing on my cheeks, but no papules, pustules or obvious inflammation.

The problem is how my skin feels.

Almost every day I have:

Constant tight/tightening feeling

Itching (especially on my nose)

Tingling/stinging

My skin feels "overaware" all the time

It's not unbearable pain, but it's incredibly annoying because I'm constantly aware of my face.

The symptoms get worse with things like:

cigarette smoke

warm rooms

temperature changes

flushing episodes

I've already tried keeping my routine as simple as possible for over 2 months:

LRP Toleriane Cleanser (evening only)

LRP Toleriane Moisturizer

LRP Cicaplast B5

I don't even wash my face in the morning because it makes it more sensitive.

These products moisturize my skin, but they've done nothing for the tightness, itching or sensitivity, so I'm starting to think this isn't just a damaged skin barrier or dry skin.

Anyone that had the same??

Did your skin constantly feel tight, itchy or irritated even when it looked fairly normal?

What actually helped?

Im considering azelaic acid now but maybe someone has better ideas.

Please let me know! I'm much more interested in improving how my skin feels than making it look slightly less red.

Has anyone experienced this type of rosacea/reactive skin

I'm a male in my 30s and have been struggling with facial flushing and a constant feeling of skin sensitivity.

The strange part is that my skin actually looks relatively normal. I don't have acne, papules or pustules, and there isn't much visible inflammation. My cheeks get red when I flush, but the redness itself isn't my main concern. I don't necessarily expect a product to stop my flushing.

What bothers me most is now is how my skin feels.

My main symptoms are:

Constant tightness / my skin feels "too aware"

Itching and tingling (especially on my nose)

Burning/stinging sensation at times

Flushing triggered by things like cigarette smoke, warm rooms and temperature changes

My skin feels reactive even when it doesn't look particularly irritated

For the past 2 months I've kept my routine extremely simple because I wanted to rule out a damaged skin barrier.

I've been using:

La Roche-Posay Toleriane cleanser (evening only)

La Roche-Posay Toleriane moisturizer

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5

I only wash my face in the evening (I don't cleanse in the morning to avoid over-cleansing).

Although these products keep my skin moisturized, they haven't significantly improved the tightness, itching, tingling or overall sensitivity. That's why I'm starting to think this isn't simply a dry skin/barrier issue.

I recently saw a dermatologist/skin therapist who thinks this may be more of a neurovascular/rosacea-related issue rather than just dry skin. They've recommended a ZO Skin Health rosacea protocol and several VBeam laser sessions.

Before investing in that, I'm considering trying a 10% azelaic acid product first.

My questions are:

Has anyone had similar symptoms where the skin sensations (tightness, tingling, itching, burning) were much worse than the visible redness?

Did azelaic acid improve the way your skin felt, or did it mainly reduce redness?

Did VBeam only reduce flushing/redness, or did it also improve the constant skin sensitivity?

If you've used ZO Rozatrol or the ZO rosacea kit, was it worth the price?

I'm also very open to any other suggestions. If you've had similar symptoms and found something that genuinely reduced the skin sensitivity or the constant "reactive" feeling (whether it was skincare, prescription medication, laser treatment, supplements or lifestyle changes), please let me know.
