I got a phone call and a voicemail from someone claiming to be with Publishers Clearing House. The number showed up as a New York number, (I can't post the number but I have it) and they wanted to call me back in the morning because when I called them back it was after 8pm)and the voicemail said his name was John Castle and that I had won $1,000,000,000.
At first, I thought it had to be a prank or a scam, but I kept listening just to see where it would go.
He then transferred me to someone he said was an accounting who asked for my bank information so they could send the first deposit.
I went along with it and gave them info for a bank account I had just opened about three months ago with PNC Bank, but they said it was too new and had a $0 balance, so it wouldn’t work. Then I mentioned my Chime account, which only had $0.52 in it, and they said that wouldn’t work either. He told me the first deposit would be $999,000.
At this point, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. I wish it were real...
