Is twang a quality that can be added to or removed from the voice while singing? (With recordings)

So after looking at a looot of resources and experimenting with my own voice I've found a particular quality that I lack, and that's twang. But I know this very bright, honky sound seems to be at standoffs between different sources, like most say it is only used sparingly (like for style or high notes) and other sources talk about something called 'necessary twang' which implies it's a permanent thing or that it's at the same base amount for literally everyone.

But what I've noticed as I build my voice is that there's this bright quality to my sound (that I'd lacked before) that once I get, it never goes away. This kinda goes against both theories I laid out earlier, so I'm trying to get back to the basics and figure out what exactly I'm doing here, and what concepts I'm working with.

So I want anyone to explain what twang exactly is, how it varies with time (long/short term?) and clear this concept up that is very puzzling to me and possibly a lot of people. Thanks again! :)

TL;DR If you didn't get what I said, listen and lmk the difference. Links to my singing:
