Why I think Cassie was ACTUALLY crying in this scene.

Why I think Cassie was ACTUALLY crying in this scene.

When I first saw this scene I just interpreted it was Cassie being a crybaby but the more I focused on it the more I realized this day was what Cassie has been yearning for her whole life.

Even though it is kind of funny seeing her cry about "bleeding" while Nate is getting brutally beat up, the real reason why she's crying is that she's not just bleeding.
She's bleeding on her WEDDING DAY which is something that should absolutely not be happening.

When she's crying you can hear her say
"It's my wedding night!" which is funny by itself but if you read more into it you realize that she has romanticized this since she was a teen.

Cassie yearned for someone to love more than just her body and this wedding was supposed to prove that she is capable of that.

"It was supposed the best day of my life!" also adds to this.

When Naz says "Don't cry, you'll mess up your make up.", Cassie Just replies with
"It's messed up!" meaning that the wedding has gone south long before all of this even happened but it was this encounter that made her realize her wedding can truly NOT be fixed.

What really got me though is her saying
"What is happening right now?" as the fight is already ending, as if it just started.

She has been so devastated that "her night" is ending like this that she didn't even realize whats going on behind her which is exactly why she didn't even flinch when Nate hit his head on the railing (which was really loud).

So, yes, Cassie was really self-centered in this scene but this night was what she's been waiting for her whole life. Her once in a lifetime opportunity to have a good wedding night is completely ruined.

I'm probably reading too deep into this tho since it is supposed to be a funny scene but it was fun to do this analysis + I'm bored.

Thoughts?
