Hi! I’m new to TCG collecting, like just started last month new. I had some cards from when I was a kid in the basement and scanned those into a price checker and it turns out I have a few moderately well priced Pokémon cards. (Several ranging from $100-$50 with a single possible $500 card). I want to submit them to PSA to see if they’re really worth that amount! I’m excited and would love to know! But everyone around me is saying it’s a bad idea to mail them in because they’ll definitely get lost in the mail or stolen or something and it’s gotten in my head. I’m very scared to mail these in now.

I’m not too concerned about damage, I read on the website how to mail them safely (Clear plastic card covers, semi-flexible card covers, cardboard and rubber bands.)

However, my parents are right, the local post office doesn’t have the best track record with getting packages where they need to go (there were several missing valentines this year, they did not handle the situation properly or inform us on the location at all. Completely lost.)

I know PSA does events sometimes, so I checked if there would be in person submissions anytime soon at a convention or anything, but there were none in my state for this year. I read about shop submission but saw that GameStop didn’t return cards in good condition or something and I got too scared to do that either.

Is it really worth the risk? I also heard it may be expensive for the insurance, so I don’t know if that’ll be a good option either. I’m just overthinking this I think. What ifs go on forever, I want concrete advice for mailing my cards to PSA safely.

If PSA is not the right fit for grading my cards, will the cards still be worth anything if I go with another company? What other companies are there? I’m just trying to find more information before getting my cards graded to ensure they are as safe as possible.

Help?

(Photos of cards to follow once I figure out the safest grading strategy)
