Toyota Hybrids - seeking experiences with older model and newer model types

Hi there,

I’m looking at transitioning to hybrids/evs in the near future. I guess it’s upon us so best move with the times.

My go to car will always be Toyota. Absolute loyalist 👍

I’m wondering if their reputation for reliability and ‘hardiness’ also translates to their hybrid cars.

Thing is, I’m not too keen on the idea of the battery in the boot. I put my work supplies (a small amount of cleaning products) and on occasion fruit, veg and meat. I’m the sort of person that would shudder at using a microwave to reheat my food if you get what I mean.

Thank you in advance 🙏

Received an inheritance - don’t know what to do with it

Hi there,

I just received $80k for inheritance. No debts. All bills paid in advance, except my phone which is $45pm.

I’m on a small part disability carers pension with fta and ftb. I work school hours as a cleaner and bring home roughly $600-1000 every week depending. I don’t have access to afterschool care or holiday school care, so my earnings can be a little inconsistent so I’m hesitant to even think about buying a little flat, especially as it would mean a school change for my kid, who is doing pretty well at his special Ed school. Plus I am in public housing, though it’s mouldy and in a shabby neighbourhood.

I have $4000 in super.

Other than the inheritance, I have about $4000 in savings after having brought a second hand car a couple months ago.

I have to report it to Centrelink tomorrow or Monday depending on when they can see me.

I don’t know what to do.

If it was $150k, yeah I’d probably buy a little flat as I could afford one near me, but because of the situation with afterschool care and holiday school care, plus I think something is physically wrong with my heart/vascular system.
