Schengen days wrong?

Hi guys,

I have a situation and I’m not sure what it means. I travel to the Netherlands from the UK quite a lot as my partner lives there. I have a British passport so am only allowed 90/180 days. I visited a few times earlier in the year (plus have been on other holidays into EU countries too), most recently in March for a weekend, and then I have just spent two weeks there again and got home today.

To avoid confusion, I use an app to track all my days and all dates that I have entered the EU are correct. Today when leaving through passport control, I was told I am 37 days ‘over’, and I said does that mean days left and she said yes. I didn’t question it as she just let me walk through, but I then got confused as my app says I should have 54 days left, and I have not spent anywhere near 53 days total in the EU since November (180 days ago).

I’ve now done some checks, and realised that if I counted that I have been in the Netherlands since my last visit in March and had never left I would now be 37 days over the 90 day limit. Does this mean their system missed that I left in March? I have an exit stamp in my passport and my Eurostar ticket to prove it. To make matters even more confusing, when I reentered the Netherlands 2 weeks ago they didn’t stamp my passport (I assumed because of the new EES), but today when I left they stamped it with an exit stamp.

Any advise is greatly appreciated. I am so worried they think I’ve overstayed when I haven’t. I have a holiday to Spain in a few weeks and going back to Netherlands at start of July and am now stressing out! Is there anyone I can contact, not sure what to do. I don’t want to be punished for something that isn’t my fault!

Hi there,

I’ve found a price online (booking.com) for a private taxi 35€ from faro airport to the hotel. Has anyone used this before? Apparently they track the flight and meet us in the airport.

I would have got the bus, but we land at 22:30 on a Friday night and I just want to get to the hotel as quickly as possible! I know there’s Uber/Bolt, but would that be more expensive at that time of night on a Friday than prebooking at this price?

Thanks!
