Greetings. I'm looking for some pro tips on how to achieve some fades across many fixtures. As a back story, we're replacing all of the lights in our sanctuary with LED DMX controlled fixtures because we can't get bulbs anymore. So I'm constructing a little light show with some music in Ableton in order to show them off.

Most of the lights are in a grid and I'm looking to do some fades throughout the room. Front to back, side to side, corner to corner. One thing I've done is create a sequence, but I haven't set that to the music yet. I'm wondering if I just break up the steps and control them all in Ableton.

Please help me understand the options and pro/con of each.

I have a preset/cue that is using the rain dimmer effect to give a random scattered twinkling effect. I want to have a MIDI CC curve fade out that effect. I can't seem to find how to apply an external control to a modifier. Or is there some other way to accomplish this?
