At the Foot of the Sea
I don’t know what it is about the ocean
The smell? The breeze? The reflection of the sun?
The energy is calming, centering my soul
I breathe in its beauty, it makes me feel whole
/
I sit on a log of driftwood that has also found its place by the sea
It’s weathered and worn but finds its peace here like me
My feet sink slowly into the sand, the grains that fall look like ants
In the distance the seabirds rhythmically fly as I fall in a trance
/
It is quiet and loud, at the same time, even while the ocean roars
The warm sunset and crashing waves give me peace and my heart soars
The sun shining off the silver ripples warms my face
There is no doubt, this is my happy place
/
The air is full of fish and salt
The waves continue to crash, they will not halt
My hair blows wildly as the wind is shifting
Grateful for Mother Nature’s generous gifting
/
Some go their whole life without seeing her beauty
Her power known only through pictures and movies
I know I am lucky, and forever grateful I’ll be
That I have sat at the foot of the powerful seas
