Any upgrade options on JAL leg booked through AA?
My wife and I have an upcoming flight to Japan, and our DFW-HND leg is JAL. We booked PE and I've already upgraded our HND-DFW return segment on AA to business, but I'm wondering if there's any way to upgrade that JAL segment. JAL's PE product isn't superb, but I thought at booking that I'd be able to bid for an upgrade. Learned later that's only if you book through JAL. But I also know that you can sometimes buy an upgrade at check-in with JAL if they have unsold seats still. Thing is I'm checking in with AA at CLL, my regional.
Anyone have any experience with this? Worth popping outside security there at DFW D and asking at the JAL check-in counter? Or do they sell upgrades at the gate as well? Last time we flew JAL we just booked business at the outset, so this is my first time trying to upgrade with them.
