New Mode = The Wild Hunt
Hey everyone,
I was thinking about ways to make this game more fun and diverse from the same spawn/ go loot/extract behavior that all modes have, so I came up with an idea for a new game mode called The Wild Hunt.
The goal is to create a raid where one squad becomes a high-value target, but the reward isn't guaranteed and can change hands multiple times throughout the match. It takes inspiration from Encrypted Files, but turns it into a full raid objective.
Wild Hunt Mode
Available only on Farm, Northridge, and Valley (the larger and open maps).
At the start of the match, one squad is randomly selected to spawn with a special key. That key can be used at a special station somewhere on the map to generate one Red-tier loot item for every member of the squad (similar to the Red Duplication event machine for example).
The catch is that the approximate location of the squad carrying the key is revealed to all players on the map after 1 min, just like the Encrypted File mechanic, which will make things challenging for them. However, the location of the station itself is only known to the key-holder's squad.
The objective for the key squad is to reach the station, activate it using the key, collect the Reds, and successfully extract.
The objective for everyone else is to hunt them down. You can either kill them before they reach the station and steal the key to activate it yourself, or kill them after they've activated it and take the Reds they're carrying. And yes, if you wipe a 4-man squad after they've used the machine, that's potentially 4 Reds up for grabs.
To make the mode more interesting and challenging, the station is usually located on the opposite side of the map from where the key squad spawns. After activating it, the extraction point is usually placed closer to their original spawn side.
This means the key squad has to cross the map to activate the station, grab the loot, and then cross a large portion of the map again to extract while being hunted by everyone else.
The map loot is available, but it is Normal Game level loot.
The mode is restricted to 600K max gear value and no weapon attachments in the backpack, similar to Secure Ops, to encourage more the hunting for the Red than the hunting for players gear.
And obviously, these special Reds can't be placed in Secure Cases, otherwise the whole mode would lose its purpose.
This mode could be fun because:
- Creates a raid-wide objective that everyone cares about.
- Encourages organic PvP instead of squads avoiding each other.
- Gives players a reason to move around the entire map.
- The key can change hands multiple times during a single raid.
- Every squad has a chance to become the hunters or the hunted.
- High risk, high reward.
Unlike Encrypted Files, the reward isn't guaranteed. The key can change hands multiple times during a raid, creating a dynamic hunt where every squad has a chance to become the target or claim the prize.
What do you guys think? Would you play something like this?
