I first heard about the whole incident by a popular hh/tadc youtube. He and many people in the comment section of that short seems to agree that the fandom overreacted to this incident, that it was 7 years ago, that Michael is probably a better person now, etc. A lot of people on Youtube shorts agree that Michael apologised and that we should let it go.

but on Tik Tok, most people say that it doesnt matter if Michael apologised, and are supportive of cancelling him. People are making memes of white people in stock images with captions such as "guys it was 7 years ago" and "this drama is so pointless" to communicate that white people weren't being serious enough. A lot of people on Tik Tok point out how recent 2019 really is and claim that people are babying him because he was 23 during that time.
