Tech appointment sedated patient most diagnostics
I have a high FAS patient on my schedule who was barely touched by Torb and smacked his head HARD on the x-ray table. The fear free notes say requires 3 techs to lift in all capitals. His owner seems to not be able to help much. He is scheduled as a sedated nail trim and x-rays as a tech appointment. (They prescribed GABA and Traz, but said will require full sedation.) I believe sedation and x-rays should be a doctor’s appointment, however, they have said as long as the patient’s doctor is in clinic it is acceptable. My clinic has one technician on for work flow, float and tech appointments. I will have to do this basically on my own if my friends from emergency (I work UC, PR and EM- not in any specific order) don’t take pity and help me out because, there is no back up and primary care A and B roll will fill meds or wait for discharge instructions before they help me because, they have the mind set that they’re supposed to stick with their doctors. Am I wrong if I write an email to the head of veterinarians and head of technicians explaining that they are potentially putting me in a very dangerous situation? I’m anxious about tomorrow because I fear I’ll have to do this with the owner alone. I can do a walk and poke, but with an insecure owner I am putting my TTC self on the line.
