Is suspension different between the E36 328i and the 328is? Any help is greatly appreciated
I’m trying to buy loaded front struts for my 1999 328is, but only 1999 328i assemblies are showing up, and only the unloaded struts show up for my 328is when searching on Amazon, Napa, FCP euro, etc.
My question arises; Are the struts/suspension components interchangeable between the two cars? I want to fix this problem ASAP and avoid worrying about compressing/loading springs by getting the entire strut loaded already. I’ve read online that the main difference is that the 328is is a coupe, and the 328i is a sedan, but I want more insight from people who may have done this repair before or can add to this and help me out.
Are there any differences in fitment, spring rates, mounting points, or ride height that would make the 328i assemblies incompatible with the 328is?
I know coilovers are an option as a last resort, but I’d like to try this route first and hopefully save some money since this is my daily driver and I’m not looking for anything crazy, just reliable.
