What is appropriate age for tablet?
My grandson just turned 5 and will be entering Kindergarten in the fall. He has been in early childhood development classes (day care+ Goddard School) since 18 mos.
TV has been limited in his home since birth. Now he watches a show or two then gets bored and wants to play. His parents are divorced and time is split equally.
He has been through many toys phases, in this order, blocks, puzzles, monster trucks, hot wheels, Pixar cars, legos, transformers and now back to legos which he can do all by himself.
He loves the baking soda science volcanos. He can read all the instructions and do everything himself. We have been told that he is reading at a Grade 1 level.
All this time he has had limited exposure to tablets and is not asking for one even though his friends have them. He loves playing in real life!
He is a fine well adjusted 5 year old with a large vocabulary.
Next year he is attending a private school with small class sizes. will a table be appropriate for kindergarten or should we wait until it is necessary for school? TIA
Edit 1: thanks for all comments. I was not contemplating buying one, just wanted to know what is normal out there. My son was sitting with me as I typed this. I agree that some kids are addicted to screens, I see it everywhere we go. We are delaying all tech until it's necessary,
Do some 5yo have phones?
