We (my husband and I) took out a mortgage about two years ago with an effective interest rate of 5.2%. After reading several posts here on Reddit, I decided to negotiate with our bank earlier this year, and in March they reduced our rate to an effective 4.95%.

Now this week, they increased it back to 5.2% again, which feels really frustrating.

About a year ago I also checked with DNB, but their offer wasn’t competitive at the time. Today I’ve sent applications to a few other banks to compare rates again, although I’m honestly not very optimistic.

Our mortgage is about 40% of the house value, so I feel like we should qualify for something better. Has anyone had success recently negotiating rates or switching banks in Norway?
