Why is English 1st Anniversary sealed more expensive than Chinese?
I’ve been looking at the English and Chinese 1st Anniversary sets, and I’m trying to understand why English sealed is still priced higher.
The most recent sealed comps on 130point I’ve seen are around $5,299 for English and $4,650 for Chinese. I would have expected the Chinese set to be the more expensive one.
My reasoning is that the Chinese set has the serialized Nami chase. From what I found, the Chinese run is estimated at 5,000 total sets, with 4,500 red Nami cards and 500 blue Nami cards.
The blue serialized Nami is also a huge chase card. I’ve seen PSA 10 sales around the $16k–$18k range, and red serialized Nami around 3-4k. On top of that, I personally think the Chinese artwork looks better.
So I’m trying to figure out what I’m missing. Is the English set more expensive mostly because English has a bigger collector base and stronger long-term demand? Is there less sealed English supply than people think? Or is the Chinese set being held back just because it’s not English, even though it has the better chase?
I’m not trying to pump either side. I’m genuinely trying to understand the market logic here. To me, the Chinese anniversary set feels like it should be priced higher because of the serialized Nami upside, but the market seems to disagree.
Would love to hear how others are thinking about English sealed versus Chinese sealed on this one.
