Something I have been wanting for a while now is a section on my home page that shows me albums that were released on this day in years past. If there was a way within Symfonium to use today's date for a rule of a smart playlist this would be straightforward but alas.

1. I created a smart playlist for Navidrome with a .nsp file in my library folder. The file has the rule to include songs that contain "-10-05" in the date.
2. I wrote a cron job on the server host that will change the date in that .nsp file every day at 12am to the new date and then triggers Navidrome to do a scan of my playlist's folder.
3. Imported the playlist into Symfonium as read-only. If I stopped here then everyday I would need to resync that playlist between Symfonium and Navidrome.
4. To automate the syncing, I use an app called Automate to trigger a sync everyday at 12:05am via Symfonium's API.
5. If you just want a list of songs from today then you can stop here. I wanted albums so I set the Symfonium playlist to hidden. I created an album smart playlist in symfonium where the only rule is the song must be in that hidden playlist.
6. Added the smart playlist to the home page!

If anyone knows a more straightforward way to achieve a similar result I would love to hear about it.

First off, huge thank you to the dev. This app is fantastic.

I am a big nerd and love tracking my digital listening stats via Last.fm. On Android I typically scrobble via Pano Scrobble. Pano is unable to detect the artist from The Deadly, I assume it just doesn't broadcast it because it's obvious Grateful Dead. Currently it just considers the show name both the Artist and Album. It'd be great if Artist could be added to the info the app broadcasts!

There have been some great posts lately showcasing different UI settings and home screens. One thing I didn't quite like on the home screen was the "Rediscover tracks/albums" sections. I liked what they were trying to do but the content it was displaying wasn't to my liking so I replaced them with smart playlists that I have more control over!

Smart Playlist rules for "Rediscover tracks": (Match All)

• Rule group: (Match Any)
  • Play count greater than 3
  • Favorite is true
• Last played over 21 days

Smart Playlist rules for "Rediscover albums": (Match All)

• Play count greater than 1
• Album type is not single
• Last played over 21 days

You should tweak these numbers to your preference. I have the playlists sort by random so every time I open the app it changes. I also hide the playlists from the Playlist page but you may want them to show up there as well.

Once you make the playlists, go to the playlist, click the 3 dots for more options and select "Add to home page". Then you can adjust the appearance of the playlists in the Interface>Home settings.

I would love to hear other clever uses for smart playlists that you have implemented!
