I made the mistake of asking a handyman to re-stain my cedar garage doors, and he used the wrong stain. He stopped after it was obvious, but too late. I just tried to cover it up with a semi-transparent oil stain, which helped, but it’s still blotchy. Do I need to sand it down? Any alternatives? Would an opaque stain cover it?
