I experienced the recent error that took many of us offline for Claude usage for many minutes.
The error burned 10% of a week's usage in under 20 minutes, with no actual usage.
After the error: my weekly usage limits on the account I had not been using was maxed. It jumped from 90% before outage to 100% during the outage with 0% change in the 5-hr limit.
Can we get a usage limit reset or partial revert? I have submitted a ticket with Fin the AI in the claude.ai Get Help page chat. Fin's response:
"Thanks please describe in detail." (after several detailed descriptions of the errors)
Thanks to the Anthropic team for always making it right, and for making the impossible possible for me.
Reasons I'm sure I didn't actually have any usage during the outage:
It was an outage.
I wasn't using the account that was at 90% at the time of the error. And while I think it did also spend a few dollars of my overage coverage, it was miniscule or 0 and I'm not sure... which leads me to believe that I definitely didn't have some huge process running unbeknownst to me that happened to stop dead right at the rollover into API dollar burn. That would be stupendously unlikely.
I have two Claude Max accounts. I monitor my weekly limits religiously on both accounts in the status line of Claude Code CLI.
