If you search reddit, you'll find a lot of scam stories about how nasty EconomyBookings and Easirent are about ripping off their customers. I wish I'd read them before hand.

The way the scam works is this: You pay ahead for a rental. You show up on time, but the rental company, Easirent, is closed. In the morning they refuse to give you a car. EconomyBookings keeps your money.

Economy bookings is well aware of this "unfortunate problem" of allowing bookings during closed business hours, but they've been doing it for years and getting away with it. They KNOW Easirent closes at 10. They're not BBB acreddited and the home office for Booking Group Corporation is in Latvia, so why should they care? They WILL steal your money.

My wife and I arrived in Jacksonville (JAX) as arranged and went to the Easirent location at 10pm with our EconomyBookings "Confirmed Reservation" in hand.  We were ON TIME. They were closed. We took a time-stamped picture of the locked door and called EconomyBookings. The rep sent us on a wild goose chase looking for another Easirent location which didn't exist. After two hours of this, the customer service reps just gave up. They wouldn't give us a rental at another company. They wouldn't get us a hotel room. They simply abandoned us.  We had to book a midnight hotel room at our own expense.

Bright and early in the morning, I entered the Easirent location at 7 am just as they opened. I presented our printed paperwork, but the Easirent representative refused to honor the booking.  He claimed that Economybookings had unilaterally cancelled the booking.  I called Economybookings and put the representative on speaker phone. The conversation was recorded. Economybookings denied that the booking was cancelled.  This denial had no effect. Easirent continued to deny that I had a legitimate booking and refused to give me the car that I had paid for.

The Economybookings representative had no further useful advice, other than suggest we apply for a refund which could only be done on their website. The so called "service representatives" have no power to actually help customers in any way and they don't even have the phone numbers for anyone who theoretically could.

We were forced to rent another vehicle from Dollar for the same time period at an inflated cost due to booking at the last minute.

We immediately filed for a refund from EconomyBookings which they claimed they would address within 28 days, but this is just a ruse. I'm not even sure the mythical "Post Rental Support" team even exists. It's the same as asking for a refund from the "Post Robbed by Pirates Support Team." It's a joke. They hope you'll forget and move on. We actually followed through and sent copious paperwork, documents, and photos proving our case but it doesn't matter to them. They're thieves who stole our money. It's been three months and they won't even reply anymore.

That's why I'm here. EconomyBookings and Easirent put me through hell. I hope to spare you from making the same mistake I did.

The numbers for real world durability (not warranty) and cost are squirrelly because it's early days for my research. Here's what I'm looking at:

Tire Weight Durability Foam Insert? Cost
Michelin Primacy 5 Energy 24.0 lbs 40,000 mi No ~$239
Kumho Majesty 9 Solus TA91 EV 26.5 lbs 40,000 mi Yes $110 - $235
Hankook iON EVO AS 26 lbs 35,000 mi Yes $235.08 - $261.00
Cosmo Kurrent EV 30.5 40,000 mi No $75.01 - $110.37
Sailun Erange EV 24 lbs 40,000 mi No $79-$150

What's your experience? Have a favorite? Any serious contenders I've left out? Any guidance on these numbers?
