I have being a happy XM5 owner until...

Yes, it finally happened, the inevitable, the left hinge started to crack. I notice it yesterday. It was very small it was starting. Sorry i didn't took the picture and i cant now you will see why in a min. So i paste this picture for reference but mine is way less just how it start.

this crack but way smaller

Of course i gotta do something,

My first option,

but it actually gave me an idea, and i want to share you this guys because is very cheap.

I went to my store and bought a dark blue thread

And proceeded to wrap the hinges yes both. The idea is to provide structural support to stop the gap getting bigger. And for the second to gave it an additional support hopefully to avoid the failure.

So here is the result.

very low tech solution

So what i did is make a wrap and then like this

As you saw in my xm5 photo i did i repeated it a lot of times, but hopefully this will keep protect the heathy hinge and reduce the gap of the other one. It does not stop the usage and almost no additional weight. Also blue is almost the same so it almost invisible.

Hope this help you if you are about to...

Cheers.

Hey guys first time here in this sub, I follow with the topics to stay informed. So I want to first of all thank everyone for all the very useful information about weather.

Because of today great weather, I had the pleasure of hiking all the way up to mount hiei, and what a great trip, took me longer than expected (I haven’t exercised much this last month) but I was able to finish it around 3 and a half ish hours. I’m sure some of you guys can do it in few mins, because I remember seeing people rushing up and down. (Really surprised here).

In any case, I was able to snap some pictures so I would like to share it to you guys Here a some of my photos. Hope you enjoy them,

Have you visited Mount Hiei if not please take a day to visit all the beautiful and very scenic areas. (If you don’t want to hike you can take train o cable cart.)
