Looking for reassurance to trust the process

I'm not at a point yet where I want to show pictures (still at the self conscious stage!), but I'm curious about the changes and discomfort throughout the braces process. I am 37 and never lost one of my canine baby teeth and the permanent canine came through my gum as an adult. I needed dental work on my very crowded lower teeth so I am yet to get the braces on those. I got braces on my upper teeth in December and had the baby tooth removed in March. Everything feels so wonky in my mouth and my bite is so different feeling it's hard to feel like this is helping (I'm pretty sure it is, my teeth never lined up to begin with so it's not like I knew what a nice, even bite felt like anyways lol).

Like the title says, just looking to see if others had this but then the farther along you get the better it feels. My ortho's plan is estimated to take around 22 months 🤞 although with how weird my teeth are it's hard to imagine them being straight in such a short period of time. All the before and after pictures here give me hope 😅

California Overtime Rules

Per California's Department of Industrial Relations website, I know all hours worked over 8 hours in a day and over 40 hours in a week are paid at time and a half. My question is if someone has a 40 hour schedule for the week but picks up 4 extra hours of overtime at the beginning of the week, do they then also get paid overtime for the last 4 hours of their last shift of the week because it will also trigger the "more than 40 hours" rule? Essentially for the week they would end up with 36 hours of regular pay and 8 hours of overtime. It seems like double dipping to me, but I couldn't find it stated anywhere that the "more than 40 hours" rule excludes previously paid overtime. Any advice with the relevant legal source would be greatly appreciated!

Dog trainer recommendations for GSD/Malinois

Essentially the title. My mother unexpectedly came home with a 9 month old gsd/malinois mix she got from a homeless guy. I have a 2 year old daughter so need to make sure we've got a handle on the new dog as soon as possible. I already have a German shepherd mix at home so I have some experience, but I got her as an adult and didn't have to deal with the dreaded adolescence phase.

Thanks in advance!

Inexperienced GSD owner advice (I suddenly have a 9 month old dog in my home)

Okay, not technically fully inexperienced but I think I'm inexperienced where it counts.

Background: I have an 8 year GSD mix (her picture is what's attached). I've had a few family dogs throughout my life but she was MY first dog. I had responded to a friend of mine's post about needing to get her 3 year old "small shepherd mix" a new home as she already had too many dogs. I'm so unbelievably un-authoritarian, most of my friends with dogs said I was terrible with them as I kind of let them do whatever they wanted lol. She told me this dog would be perfect for me and she couldn't have been more correct! I took home a 75 lb dog who is so loyal and smart and amazing I just talk to her and she listens. It made me a total convert to the breed, but I also know I did none of the hard work in terms of training & dealing with puppyhood/adolescence.

Current situation: my mother lives with me, MY 2 YEAR OLD, and my husband. She is.... impulsive? Difficult? Ridiculous? All of the above. Anyways, 9 pm last night she went to the store and came home with a 9 month old gsd/malinois mix a homeless man gave her. Breed type was what he claimed, she (the dog) gives long hair gsd vibes with I don't know what else. I haven't taken a picture yet otherwise I'd post.

What on earth do I do? How do you handle a 9 month old one of these to ensure my 2 year old stays safe?! Of course this dog seems nice in the first 5 minutes of having a home but I know she's still young. My normally very mellow dog is a little miffed (she's much more comfortable with small dogs than dogs her own size) and was given no time before this brand new dog walked in her house. I don't know if I'm looking for validation that this was nuts or just advice on the best way to make this sudden addition transition smoothly 🫠
