Ortho said I’ll be done in 3 weeks but I don’t think my teeth are ready. What do you think?

Ortho said my bite is and I quote “quite ok” but i hate hate hate the gaps on the sides. is that normal? she said i should wear bands for another month. are the gaps due to my teeth being worn down (i had to eat from the side all my life because ive always had an open bite and decided to fix it as an adult) or is my bite still open on the sides?

i’ve been obsessing over this for days now (ive even doubled up my bands at night to speed things up) i would really appreciate some other opinions. thanks!

Stains on teeth! Help!

I had braces for three years and I’ve noticed that I have white spots on my teeth.. does that mean I’m going to have white squares when they remove my brackets. I am a coffee drinker. I do brush my twice a day I do floss.

Are any of you guys coffee drinkers and how does your teeth now look after braces?

Braces - Timeline

Guys.

How many appointments are usually needed to get braces? I'm starting fresh with a new orthodontist. Including the initial consultation, fillings (if needed), scans, X-rays, measurements, and getting the braces fitted, are 4 appointments enough? Is it possible to get braces within a month?

The end is in sight!

First photo is from January 2025, second photo is August 2025 (day before getting the chain fitted), third photo is from January 2026, final photo is from this month. I've been provisionally booked in to have the braces taken off mid-August.

My primary issue was gaps between my teeth. My treatment was slow to get off the ground as I had a baby tooth that needed extraction, and then they needed to gradually increase the space for the adult tooth to be pulled down into. The tooth was extracted about a week prior to getting my braces fitted and the gold chain was fitted at the end of August 2025.

There's still a slight gap where the space was created to pull the adult tooth into but as this is going towards the back of my mouth, I'm not so bothered about it (and given my teeth are quite small, they were probably quite limited in how much they could move it without creating a gap at the front). I had an appointment at the end of April where I was given elastics to wear to help move the tooth back but my appointment this week, I was told I didnt need to wear these anymore as the tooth only needs to move about 1mm. The majority of my treatment has been power chains.

I was originally told treatment would be 18-24 months and I thought I would be hedging towards the 24 months given the issues mentioned above and it taking a while to be able to get booked in to get the gold chain fitted. Treatment all in including braces, extraction of baby tooth and exposure for the fitting of the gold chain was just over £4k.

Super, super happy with the results - my only regret was waiting so long to get braces

Hating retainers

I just got the hawley retainers today and I'm hating the feeling of my tongue resting on the acrylic. I've had braces for a long time, talk about 6 years because of the pandemic and some financial issues, along with the clinic being really far from my home. I'm not sure if my teeth problem is really that severe, but my dentist said I had to wear retainers for 6 years 24/7 then I can switch to only wearing them at nighttime. Right now that seems absolutely hellish. I heard other people only needed to wear them 24/7 for 6 months, why do I have to wear it for 6 years??

First Time Braces At 26; Help Me

i'll start by saying i have some pretty significant dental trauma history. i needed braces as a kid, but was neglected into never getting them, hence why i have them now.
paired with legitimate malpractice that required extensive correction years later, and a list of mouth abnormalities, its just always been crazy in there, so i'm no stranger to dental work.

all things considered, i apparently have pretty good teeth. i am good with brushing and flossing. but i have insane protrusion caused by lifelong tongue thrust. i dreamed of getting braces, and finally, i got them put on. im only two days in! and i have to tell you -

THEY HURT. so bad.

im. miserable.

my inner upper lip was being butchered until i caved and used generous amounts of wax. i can manage the pain sometimes with ibuprofen, or a popsicle. i found an oral peroxide to swish with and try to alternate with that or mouthwash. i actually enjoy the hygiene piece of it because i love meticulous routine but i absolutely loathe the discomfort and aches.
i have been salivating so much and my mouth at times felt too numb to talk. i'll admit i 100% pushed it with something crunchy and learned to never do that again LOL.

i have a high pain tolerance but ill admit i have always buckled when it came to mouth pains. i see so many people say it doesnt hurt too bad that i can conclude that it must be my sensitivity, which is okay, ill admit im being a baby.

i feel all of that context is important to give you an idea of the position im in.
so now i'll ask, because i seriously need to know:
does this get better? tell me this is worth it. what did you all do to mitigate pain and discomfort?

Coil spring attached yesterday and I can already feel space opening up!!

Had my third braces adjustment yesterday and got a coil spring attached for my crowded upper teeth / rotated canine. Last night while flossing, I already noticed a gap where two teeth used to touch. I have overcrowding so flossing feels very hard due to the tight spots.

Is it normal to see this kind of change literally within a few hours? I know actual tooth movement is supposed to be gradual, but this felt crazy fast.

For context, I also had my upper wisdom teeth removed already, and my orthodontist just added brackets to the last upper molars + changed my lower wire to a thicker one.

Very excited to see if this starts helping my crowding and canine rotation more over the next few weeks.

Anyone else had a coil spring work this fast? 😅

Scared of 8 extraction

I'm literally terrified of extractions for braces.

Yesterday my dentist started pulling my first premolar, but I panicked. I was shaking, felt weak, and told her I'd come back another day. Today is the day 😭😭,

I'm hesitating, should I have to show up?

Now I hate that I couldn't go through with it. My orthodontist recommends 4 premolar extractions, and maybe my 4 wisdom teeth later if needed. I'm starting to wonder if braces are even worth it, or if I should just live with my crooked teeth.

Idk but pulling The teeth isn't painful, but The tightness, that I am scared of TBH

Maybe i should Stop getting braces 😭

Has anyone else backed out of an extraction because of fear ? Like ME 😭

I just need to hear your opinions

Face Shape Changes

Hi all! My girlfriend is debating wether to get braces, but the orthodontist told her that her face might widen and elongate slightly.

Now her worry is that she will lose her facial features (cheekbones and jawline). Is there anyone with these facial features that have experience with braces and losing or retaining these features and be haply about the result?

Thanks so much, hopefully my question is clear enough <3

Im traumatized

I paid for 5000USD for the Rehab and Ceramic Braces and this is what I get.

I started braces last April 15

I have a porcelain two front tooth that had to be replaced into a plastic material so brackets can be glued. She then insisted on the Gingivectomy of my two front teeth which made me look more like a rabbit.

My current situation is, she tried to force the two front teeth to come in which made it look worse.

I feel like ive been ripped off and just live with this look

How bad are my teeth? Should I get braces

I’ve always been insecure of my teeth and smile and I wanted braces, but my parents say my teeth look fine, I don’t really think so. If I were to get braces, would I need them on both top and bottom? How horrible is the situation here?

Also non braces related, I feel like my teeth are a little bit too yellow, even though I brush twice a day, is that also a concern?
