Is it normal for my bite to feel slightly off after braces are removed?

Got my braces removed four days ago.
When I eat and have my retainers out, my bite feels slightly off, like my bottom incisor is hitting the back of the top tooth on one side but not the other. It feels weird when I eat. My top teeth are also still kind of looser.

Is it normal to have this feeling after braces are removed? I’m hoping my bite settles into a comfortable position as my teeth settle.

Is sensitivity to pressure normal 8 months after bike accident and trauma to front teeth?

35F. History of depression, anxiety, adhd, autism, Celiac. I take Concerta 36 mg and Escitalopram 20 mg.

For context, I had braces on 8 months ago when I had a bike accident and hit my face into the ground, impacting my front four teeth. The sensitivity got better with time in the braces. Now my braces have been removed and my front teeth feel very sensitive again to pressure (pressing on them or attempting to chew with them) and have slight movement, and feel somewhat unstable and looser than my other teeth.

I have seen an endodontist for follow ups and the nerves are still alive in my teeth so there hasn’t been a need for root canals.

Is it cause for concern that my teeth are still sensitive, or could this be from the removal of the braces and maybe get better with time?

Did anyone else’s front teeth feel unstable, sensitive and slightly wiggly after braces were removed?

Just got my braces removed a few days ago. For context, I do have prior trauma to my front four teeth when I had braces after I landed face first on the pavement in a bike accident 8 months ago. I had a lot of sensitivity and pain after this happened but it gradually felt better with time.

Now that my braces are off, my front four teeth feel unstable, slightly wiggly and sensitive to pressure (I can’t chew with them without a strange sensation like they’re going to fall out). They feel great when I have the retainers in because they’re being held in place but i am being careful when I eat. My orthodontist said this is normal after they’re removed and can take time to stabilize. I’m more worried because of my past trauma to these teeth specifically.

Did anyone else experience this when their braces were removed?

First day with braces (April 2024) and first day without braces (August 2026)!

Had two pre-molars extracted, corrected my overbite with elastics and straightened the teeth. They look so good!

It’s been 8 months since a bike accident where I landed on my front four teeth into the pavement. Sensitivity and mobility have improved but now that I just got my braces off, they feel more sensitive and unstable again. Will this ever heal more fully?

I am a 35 year old female. Medications: Concerta 36 mg, Escitalopram 20 mg. Health conditions: ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism, Celiac Disease.

In January 2026, I was in Mexico and had an e-bike accident where I hit a speed bump the wrong way and flew over the handlebars, landing face into the pavement and hitting my front four teeth pretty bad. They were bleeding around the gums and very sensitive and loose feeling initially and for a while after. I had braces at the time so I think that helped to hold them in place like a splint. I’ve been seeing an endodontist regularly to check the vitality of my nerves and they are all still alive meaning I haven’t needed a root canal on any of these teeth.

The photo is the x-rays I had done in Mexico the day after the accident so you can the swelling but I was told there weren’t any cracks in the bone or roots. I am aware that I have shortened roots from having braces as an adult which can make the teeth less stable in general. No other major health concerns.

My teeth started feeling more stable and less sensitive to cold temperatures/foods over time. But I just got my braces off yesterday and now my front four teeth are feeling more sensitive and unstable again. They wiggle slightly but more so feel sensitive to pressure (like I can’t bite into hard foods using them) and less anchored (if that makes sense) than my other teeth. The orthodontist said they should become more firm with time, but none of my other teeth feel like this, just the front four which had the trauma. I’m hoping they don’t always feel this vulnerable and sensitive to pressure, but wanted to see if anyone has experience with this type of scenario?

Is there still a chance that my ligaments could heal further now and the teeth could stabilize more, now that my braces have been removed and they don’t have constant pressure on them?
