Braces at 65

I occasionally see people ask if it’s worth it to get braces at, say, age 30. I’m 65 years old and I just got braces a couple months ago. I had them
When I was 14 for a severe overbite. So this is my second round since my teeth gradually became misaligned over the last 50 years. Yes, for me it’s worth it. Do it.

Braces at 65 - a turnoff??

This seems like kind of a trivial question but I need to know perspectives. I’m widowed 65F, husband died in November. I’m not ready to start dating yet, but I expect that at some point I will try, because loving & being loved is nice.

My question is this: I recently got orthodontic braces on my teeth because I wanted a better smile, something I’d been thinking about for quite some time, before my husband died, and he had encouraged me. Both our kids have beautiful smiles thanks to the orthodontic care we paid for.

And I wanted a beautiful smile too. So I went ahead and did it. They are the real metal braces, not the Invisalign because I was told I’d get a better result with braces. I’ll have to wear them for about 2 years, Bur I think it will be worth it.

As far as dating, is this a turnoff? I guess if it is I’ll just live with it, because I’ve decided this is something I want to do for myself. And it’s not forever. But I’m wondering how men might perceive th.

God answers some prayers & not others???

I’m a member of a moderate Protestant church where I go to church, Sunday school & Bible study. When people get good news about health issues, for example, they always say things like “god is good” and “prayers answered” as if they got good news because God made it happen.

Last year my husband 65 died of pancreatic cancer, eight weeks and 2 days after he was diagnosed. He was perfectly healthy before that and had no common risk factors for this cancer. We prayed for healing, but we knew the outlook was bleak as he was stage 4 at the time of diagnosis.

It just hurts me when I hear people say THEIR prayers were answered because it seems they’re insinuating that they were better Christians or more deserving or maybe they prayed harder. I’m in a text group where this seems to be a common refrain: Prayers answered!!! God is so good!!!!!

Except not to me.

Sometimes I want to say: Hey God doesn’t answer all prayers. And that doesn’t mean you aren’t deserving. But I guess that would be a bad thing to say.

They all know I lost my husband really fast but yet they keep saying things like MY PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED.
