Has anyone ever tried to buy/create guitar pick guard and glue them instead of using screws? Would that be more of hassle than worth it or is it a perfect solution for someone who doesn’t want to have tiny holes on their guitar?
So I’m sure some y’all had a starting bass and later upgraded to top, slap-grade, stringed wood.
I’m wondering, for recording purposes, with a full band, does it make a massive difference to upgrade? My bass sounds clean, a bit of hum doe, and I did get it 10+ years ago for just getting started (yamaha rbx170).
I don’t like using distortion and I mostly enjoy a clean woody sound. We play rock/metal.
And if upgrade, What kind of pickups are best for my sound? I only know guitar pickups and I dunno how they affect the bass sound.
I have an old yamaha that still sounds incredible to me. However, I’ve been noticing on recording that if I put just a little too much energy (I ain’t even slapping) on the string, I cause it to clip. But I find it particularly odd as sometimes I feel as play more loudly and still not cause it to clip. I think it is the angle I pluck the string. My audio interface in on minimum gain and still clipping, although I can barely see the waveforms lol.
Any ideas where is the source of the problem?
SOLVED:
Man… i was hitting the pickup with the string… but actually the E string… when I was plucking the A string XD
I stopped my finger inertia from hitting A with the E string and that string was hitting the pick up pole.
I feel so dumb but so relieved I finally found the problem.

Basically title.
I was wondering if it is a common thing, as I was looking forward to having limiter-z in my project templates!
I can conform it is this plug-in as once I turned in on after starting project in recovery mode, Reaper proceeded to crash.
It has happened before with another project, but only during loading and I had several project opening. It wasn't an issue once I opened that project separately later, however, this is not the case now.
Any advice or experience with this?
