SWS notes constantly delete my notes
This is a feature that I really need, I write in track notes what capture from nano cortex I used, what guitar, if splitted coil or regular etc. in the project notes I usually paste the lyrics of the songs etc. the problem is that from time to time (more often than than not) they are deleted, something I can do?
Beginner looking for the best YouTube channels or step-by-step guides to learn Reaper from scratch
Hey everyone,
I'm completely new to Reaper and finding the learning curve a bit overwhelming.
Could anyone recommend the best beginner-friendly YouTube channels, crash courses, or guides that explain things simply? I'm mainly looking to learn the essential basics (routing, working with stems, basic mixing, and plugins) without getting bogged down in overly advanced technical routing right away.
Any favorite creators or playlists you recommend starting with? Thanks in advance!
does anyone know how to fix this?
it happens when i use the command "reaper" or "pw-jack reaper" (pipewire jack). im running it on a crappy laptop running cachyos. the kernel is 7.1.8-1-cachyos (64-bit), and i am using kde plasma wayland. the terminal featured in the images is alacritty. is there a setting i need to change or a flag i need to use? thank you for your time and consideration!
Does the Tukan Series 3 plugin pack replace Series 2 or just add to the series?
*title
EDIT: Update and answer found in this video by it's creator. Basically his first pack was an attempt. 2nd pack has many styles and varieties of plugins that he will keep adding to and Series 3 will be more of a focused pack separate from Series 2's evolving plugin lineup. So they are not replacements but additions.
Behringer UMC202HD problem
Windows 11 PC. Sorry if this is not the right place for this question. Every time I try to open and use my new interface, I get a message saying:
Error opening devices
There was an error opening the audio hardware:
Error initializing ASIO driver
I have downloaded and installed the latest driver directly from Behringer. I double checked that it was for the UMC202HD. I had it unplugged when installing it, per a video I saw. I've restarted my computer multiple times. It shows up in preferences. Audio System: ASIO. ASIO Driver: UMC ASIO Driver
There are no options in the drop-down menus for first and last in either inputs or output range. It isn't showing up in my output devices in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. I can't find it in device manager. I have absolutely no idea what's going on.
Request for a very specific script
Hya!
I'm a podcast editor and I'm always looking for ways to be as fast as possible, shaving off the seconds where I can.
While editing, it is usually very obvious from the waveform where someone says "uhm" before I even get to it. But I don't have a 100% success rate, I get it wrong sometimes. For example, a long "aaand" looks like an uhm sometimes. So I'm pretty good but not perfect. But sometimes when I am just so completely sure that there is an Uhm coming up, I cut it out before I even listen to it and if I could do this more than every once in a while, it would speed up my work and just keep me in the flow better.
So, my request is for a very specific script that I wouldn't know where to even start with writing myself. I tried googling juuust in case somebody has thought of this before but didn't find anything unsurprisingly.
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to volunteer their time and make a script for me where
* While the recording is playing, I select a part of the timeline (time selection)
* I press the key on the keyboard that has been programmed to do the following actions
* The time selection plays
* After playing the time selection once, the playhead immediately snaps back and continues playing from where it was right before I pressed the key.
Does this make sense? Is it too specific lol. Idk but I feel like each second this would save me would really add up. If no one wants to do this out of the goodness of their hearts I can also pay like 10 bucks or smth idk lol.
Thanks!
Edit: stop suggesting AI I'm begging.
Which laptop for Reaper
I'm getting Reaper to set up a home studio.
I've been recording on a portable unit for two years, and since I'm required to get a laptop for studies this fall I figured I might as well get one that works for home recording. I don't think it's in my budget to get two separate computers.
I think I have decided on the CPU, RAM and SSD requirements.
I understand that the laptop itself should have good build regarding USB ports, have good results on LatencyMon tests and high sustained performance without the cooling fan sounding too much.
Only I don't know much at all about which laptop models meet any of those latter requirements. It needs to be Windows, due to the study platform.
So, what are you running Reaper on and how is it working out? What did not work out? What have you heard on this?
I already own a handed down Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 G1 audio interface. So I guess the laptop should have USB 2.0 Type C?
Looking forward to get started!
Volume automation

How to toggle individual REAPER FX on/off live
Greetings,
For a 5-piece music project, we use a wired IEM setup running through REAPER. I have a DSI Prophet '08 v1, which lacks onboard FX, and I’d like to use REAPER to host the FX instead.
Ideally, I want a way to toggle any single effects on and off, live. I've done some research and see a few paths but was hoping that someone has tried this, or can point me in the right direction?
Many thanks in advance,
a.p.
I rendered this song but the output file is silent
I'm on windows 11, and as I said I rendered this but can't hear anything in the resulting mp3 OR wav. In the preview I could hear everything just fine though, so I know it got the correct tracks and everything. Please help! Thank you in advance!
Can someone explain JS Tape Recorder to me? (And one random question)
I was poking around my plugins to find a nice tape hiss to add to the first few quiet measures of a song, and found Tape Recorder S2. I love the hiss you get when you turn it up a bit. But I don't understand how this plugin effectively functions. I was expecting it to overlay/effect an audio file, but it just seems to be always on or off regardless of whether there's audio in the track it occupies. I don't want it for the whole song.
I also tried automating it with the bypass feature, but no effect.
(And my random question: is it possible to remove specific files from the recent projects drop down?)
Any help or suggestions, please!
Issue
i have an issue with on of my projects : i recorded all my instruments on a projet at 68 bpm and i accidently recorded the voices in another project at 120bpm. so now i cannot simply copy/paste the voices in the firts project otherwise the voices will get to 68bpm and be slowed. does anyone have a solution or a suggest ?
The time is near.......
Used the hell out of this trial time to make the purchase I guess!
Help configuring REAPER for an Audacity-style workflow
I’m moving from Audacity to REAPER and I’m trying to get the basic editing behavior set up in a way that feels intuitive.
I’m not looking for advanced mixing advice yet, mostly just help configuring the mouse, selections, looping, and editing so I can stop fighting the interface.
The biggest issue right now:
In Audacity, I could click directly on the waveform, hold, and drag across a portion of the audio to highlight that time range. Then I could play or loop just that section.
In REAPER, I’ve tried setting:
Media item > left drag > Select timeMedia item bottom half > left drag > Select time
and both are definitely set that way, but dragging across the waveform still just moves the edit cursor/playback head instead of creating a visible time selection.
I’ve also checked the arrange-view mouse modifier overrides and they all appear to be off.
So first question: what am I missing there?
More generally, I’d really appreciate advice on configuring REAPER for a workflow like this:
- Left-drag directly across a waveform to create a time selection
- Easily loop/repeat only that selected section
- Click a media item without accidentally moving it
- Have some simple modifier like Shift+drag for actually moving items
- Quickly split audio at the cursor or selection
- Delete or mute only a selected portion
- Make quick fades/crossfades
- Zoom horizontally in/out without losing where I’m working
- Solo/mute tracks quickly
- Adjust item/track volume easily
- Eventually automate faders and volume changes
- Generally make basic editing feel closer to Audacity while still taking advantage of REAPER’s better mixing tools
I’m using REAPER v7.78 on Windows.
If anyone has an Audacity-to-REAPER mouse modifier setup, custom keymap, tutorial, or just a list of “change these 5 settings first,” I’d love to see it.
I learn mostly by doing, so I’m not trying to turn REAPER into Audacity exactly; I just want to remove the basic friction so I can actually start learning the DAW instead of constantly wondering why a click did something unexpected.
Compound metronome
Hi, I was trying to record a project where one bar is 3/4 followed by a 4/4 bar, is there a way to set the metronome that way? I ended recording in 4/4 without accents (AAAA) but having the accent on the one could have been useful, yeah I could program a drum or simply a kick drum but is there a way with just the metronome?
Thanks!
This is how I feel sometimes
I have to acknowledge the absurdity of myself at least
What's your dual monitor work flow?
Idk if maybe dual 24inch monitors are insufficient but I keep finding my workflow getting really goddamn crowded.
I have a primary monitor and then secondary that's just off to my right (I need a better setup to bring it a little closer but its ok for now). On my secondary I have a floating mixer taking up the bottom half of the screen, and top half is media items. Media items takes up probably more real estate than it should but its the only place it makes sense.
My primary monitor holds my TCP, piano roll gets docked to bottom half when its opened but when its open it takes up a ton of space for it to be usable.
Things get really crowded when I start opening plugins and plugin lists, if I'm not 100% in a VST then it either gets closed or pushed off to my secondary monitor and then the track plugin windows start to crowd up there and overlap each other then get lost behind other floating windows.
My workflow sucks! And I dont know if its because my monitors are too small. I do have everything at maybe 115% or so because 100% is tiny and also the fact you cant make the fonts on the File, Preferences etc menus is absolutely criminal.
How do yall keep your shit under control?
EDIT: Keep in mind I'm still relatively new so I dont use many tracks and plugins so this will get exponentially worse the more complex my tracks start to get. With piano roll open I can see 3 tracks of midi above it without needing to scroll to see more. Makes it feel very crowded
What I made with REAPER - week of August 16, 2026
What is something you made with REAPER that you'd like to show us and get feedback on?
Please post full links (no shorteners) to content you would like to showcase! A short description of your process, gear, and plugins used would be helpful.
Please give feedback to what others post here!
