Perimenopause is normal
I got this email today and am a little concerned how Whoop is subtly suggesting estradiol testing to women who would normally have low estradiol.
There is nothing pathologic about perimenopause per se. Menopause is not a disease. Moreover, testing for estradiol levels is not reliable, not medically indicated, and absolutely not necessary for a woman to consider HRT. It is a waste of money and blood... hormones fluctuate so walking around with a lab value is meaningless. You can choose to start an estrogen patch with a progesterone pill purely based on symptoms after consulting a licensed medical provider, who will not recommend labs to prove anything...
