Extension cord

I am thinking about getting an extension cord for charging my Tesla. It will have to go about 30 feet. I am planning to use it to charge overnight from what I believe to be a standard household outlet on my deck. Since I live in Chicago and the cord will traverse the yard on the ground, I anticipate that it will often be covered by snow for weeks at a time in the winter.

I will consult an electrician before doing any of this, but it would be useful if anyone could comment from personal experience about this scheme & what kind of cord to get?

(My objective here is not so much to charge the car, but to keep the battery in decent shape, particularly in the winter.)

Anywhere to suggest software improvements?

How does one go about suggesting a software improvement to Tesla? At least I think it’s software based.

I recently purchased a 2026 Model Y. It’s nice to have the charging pad, but I often forget and leave my phone in the car.

But there’s a reminder tone, you might say. However, it doesn’t chime until I’m out of the car and walking away, and it’s not very loud. So I don’t hear it. Eventually, having heard nothing, I realize the car isn’t locking, and figure out why. So I have to go back for the phone.

I’d like to suggest that the chime be made to occur when the driver side door is opened. But how do I make that suggestion?

“Oh, snap. There goes my baseball cap”

A couple of days ago, I got a couple of strikeouts for no discernible reason.

But I realized that both times, I was driving with my baseball cap on. I’m wondering whether the visor on the cap somehow interfered with the cabin camera? At any rate, I stopped wearing my cap in the car and had no further strikeouts.

Does my baseball cap theory seem likely?

I’m in Chicago. Concerning my 2026 Model Y: This is my software situation, except that it now claims I’m up to date as of yesterday. I park this car in range of my home WiFi. But it’s not plugged in and there’s no way to do that. This is the same software/FSD I’ve had since I picked the car up a month ago. So what do I have to do to get the current (and future) updates?
