What aspect of physiotherapy is essential following knee replacement surgery?
Sometimes patients will wonder which of the exercises is the most important following their knee replacement surgery.
Generally, there is not any single exercise.
There are multiple reasons why early knee rehab is important—recovering knee mobility, getting the surrounding muscles activated and strengthened, improving gait, and regaining balance and confidence.
Each person feels like each aspect is the breakthrough for him/her.
Sometimes, for some, being able to move their knee joint comfortably is the breakthrough.
For others, regaining quadriceps strength is the turning point because then walking and stair climbing starts being easier.
In some cases, even a single specific exercise is not that crucial but rather consistency in performing the assigned exercises.
