Mechanical Engineering → Data / AI / Industrial Analytics in Germany Masters (need eligibility advice)
Hi everyone,
I will be applying for Master’s programs in Germany Public unis and I need guidance from people who understand eligibility rules.
My background:
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (India)
4+ years working as Data Analyst
Inventory & supply chain analytics
KPI dashboards (Power BI, Excel)
SQL reporting (ERP systems)
Python for automation
Strong interest in Industrial AI / Automation / Data Analytics
My issue:
I want to move into data/AI/industrial automation fields, but I’m confused about eligibility in Germany.
Most Data Science / AI programs seem to require a CS/Math background, while Business Analytics programs require business ECTS.
So I’m trying to understand:
Is Mechanical + real analytics experience enough to get into Industrial AI / Smart Manufacturing / Digital Engineering Master’s?
Do German universities consider work experience at all, or only ECTS?
Which public universities are realistic for this kind of transition?
What kind of courses I can enter or safe to apply, Checked the whole Daad.de and now im confused
I’m NOT trying to switch to pure CS — my goal is industrial analytics / AI in manufacturing.
Any real experiences from people who made this transition would really help.
Thanks!
