What do I do?

Ive recieved my acceptance into TUM for microelectronics and chip design for this winter semester and I'm waiting on TUD for msc in nanoelectronic system.

But from what I've heard is that the results are announced approx 4 weeks after the deadline, i.e July 15...which would be too late for starting my visa application.

What do I do nw? Do I proceed with TUM or should I take the risk of waiting for the response form TUD.

Can I realistically get my uni-assist VPD before 15 July if I apply today (7 July)? (THI MSc AI)

Hey everyone,

I know I left this pretty late 😅.

I'm an applicant from India applying for the M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence at THI (Winter 2026/27). I think I have a decent profile and would really hate to miss this opportunity just because of the VPD.

I'm submitting my uni-assist VPD application today (July 7), but the application deadline is July 15.

I know uni-assist says the processing time is usually 4–6 weeks, but has anyone actually received their VPD in under 8–9 days?

Is it worth taking the chance and applying anyway, or is there basically no hope of getting the VPD before the deadline?

Also, if anyone has experience with THI, do they ever accept a VPD a few days late if the delay is only because of uni-assist?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!

Visa received 🎉 -- VFS New Delhi timeline

Hey everyone! I'm happy to share that I have collected my passport with the visa stamp. Thanks to all of you guys, the process was quite smooth.

Here's my timeline:

18th June: Applied on the CSP portal

24th June: Received corrections in the evening. Corrected and submitted again the same day.

25th June: slot booking was enabled. I booked a slot for 30th (took buffer time for document collection).

30th June: Passport submission and biometrics enrolment at VFS New Delhi

30th June: Passport received by embassy

2nd July: Embassy asked for my college transcripts on email and decided on the application an hour later

3rd July (evening): Passport was sent back to VFS for collection.

6th July: I went and collected 🙏

Overall the processing took 9 days (6 days by CSP portal and 3 days by embassy along with VFS).

My entire process was 18 days long (with my own delays).

Also, I chose the normal VFS service without the premium lounge. But funnily enough, my biometrics were conducted in the latter, with roughly 1.5 hours of waiting time.

Anyway, I'm glad to share my experience. Should anyone have a query, feel free to ask!

University of Bayreuth (Philosophy & Computer Science) .. need honest opinions

I recently received an admit for Philosophy & Computer Science at the University of Bayreuth and was initially very excited about the course. However, many people have told me not to come, saying the university is weak, the teaching quality isn’t great, and Bayreuth is too small.
This has made me quite confused and demotivated. Is anyone here studying at Bayreuth or living there? I’d really appreciate genuine feedback about the university, professors, student life, and career opportunities.

Passport Renewed, cannot book visa appointment

I applied for my APS certificate in January and got the certificate in February without any issues. Since then I have renewed my passport and now my APS certificate is linked to the old passport number.

I applied for visa with my new passport number and scanned pdfs but when go to vfs to book the appointment with my new passport it shows invalid reference.

Now I am able to book the appointment with my old passport number and I found the APS documentation stating that if my passport number gets changed I can just book with old one and carry both passports to the visa center.

I tried to confirm with the VFS center if I can go ahead with the appointment with old passport and carry both of them, also told them that APS recommends this still in every call and mail they said to renew my passport number in the aps document with the new one only.

I have also mailed the APS but no reply from them yet and I don’t know how long that will take or whether it’ll be new APS recalculation with new requirements of the new test.

Confused whether I should just book the appointment and take my chances at the center or just wait in the hope APS will respond to the email since they don’t have an office or phone number to contact.

If anyone had the same issue and went in with the old passport can you describe the process or will the discrepancy create issues or lead to visa rejection

I want to apply for visa to study in Germany. I am a non-EU citizen. Can I not join the queue before some of the documents I need to upload to the Consular Services Portal are ready?

For example, I don't have blocked account or insurance ready yet. I was planning to book an appointment and while I still have time, prepare all the required documents. Is this no longer possible? I haven't yet managed to come up with the money needed for the blocked account. If I make an appointment after setting up the blocked account, I think I will be late for classes.

I want to apply for visa to study in Germany. I am a non-EU citizen. Screenshots are from Consular Services Portal. Can't change the reference person's country in the "Reference" section. Why?

Also, wouldn't it be better if the person whose details I need to enter is the one providing me with financial assistance? Thank you.

German Consulate Mumbai Visa - Switch university situation

I am kind of in a messy situation. Had applied for visa after getting admit from TU chemnitz web engg program. Got an email from consulate asking for accreditation report for the web engg program after biometrics, passport submission.

On checking with university, they responded that the programme is not accredited and they cannot support with any acc related document for visa purpose, since i couldn't support my case and cannot provide document to the consulate, which i believe is only going to lead to visa rejection without any fault of my own.

As i had admit from Hof univ too, i had emailed to german consulate mumbai 1 week back explaining them the whole situation and consider switching my university with my existing CSP application and i can share the required extra docs for Hof univ.

There has been no email response since then from german consulate mumbai. Had called them 3 days back , was told i can expect response last friday. Still no response yet.

Any one had any experience with german consulate mumbai or have any idea of their timeline to respond? Any tips would be helpful - if you were in similar situation of switching university after biometrics with existing CSP application

Going to Germany worth it in my case?

I’m currently in Year 12, studying math, physics, and economics. I want to pursue mechanical engineering, and I’m planning to do an English-taught degree in Germany at a public uni. I’ll be learning German first, aiming for a B1 level before I go. But I’m still seeing online that even after learning German, it can be hard to make friends, and it’s still tough to integrate socially. So, I’m trying to figure out if the experience is worth it long-term, and also I’ve seen if I do an English degree my chances of getting a job after uni is 0, any advice would help and also is it easy to get a job there like part time as soon as you go Germany like working in the supermarket for example.

Part time job hours expired

Hey folks!! Asking for a brother, His part time job working hours limit expired and even though he continues to work he will not be credited with salary so it has become like the only option is to return to home country for a couple of months and come back once the limit is restored in the fresh cycle. I was just thinking why these stores can't pay by cash but somehow by law they are not able to do that. Has anyone faced this issue and what was that solution which you have taken.

Got 2 admits don't know what to do.

I'm deciding between TU Chemnitz – M.Sc. Embedded Systems and TH Augsburg – M.Sc. Electrical Engineering.

Chemnitz feels straightforward because it's a specialized Embedded Systems program, so I can clearly see the career path.

Augsburg, on the other hand, seems very broad with modules ranging from VLSI and automation to control systems, power, and communications. I'm struggling to understand what kind of engineer I'd actually become and whether the broadness is an advantage or a disadvantage when looking for jobs.

open to hear your opinion, experience, or anything useful at all

Unsure whether to wait for my admission letter OR take the next steps

First, my profile: B.E. in AIML (German grade: 2.4), B2 English, no work experience, graduated in June 2025.

I spent this whole year planning and applying for a master's in Germany. I invested my personal savings and a lot of my time into this without telling my family, because they would never have allowed me to do it.

I applied to four universities:

  • BTU (rejected)
  • University of Passau
  • University of Koblenz
  • JMU Würzburg

It's now been six months, and I still don't have any concrete proof to show my family that my plans are actually working out.

During this time, I applied for several jobs. I received one offer but I turned it down because it came with a 2.5-year work bond. I thought I'd be moving to Germany this October to start my master's, so I didn't want to commit.

Coming from a conservative brown family, my parents are now planning to get me married this year. I don't know how much longer I can handle this pressure.

I turned down a pretty stable corporate job because I believed I could pursue my dream to study masters and eventually become independent from my family. But right now, I have nothing in hand - neither job nor admission letter.

I'm confused about what to do next. Should I move on and focus on getting a job before my family arranges my marriage? (I recently applied for another position and have been selected for the final interview, which is this week) OR should I continue waiting and hope to get admitted to Germany to pursue my dream?

Visa query - Conditional admit

Hi all,

I have applied for a German study visa using the conditional offer letter I receieved from the public uni I was admitted to for my masters. The condition requires me to acquire 30ECTS in the first year of my admission in the uni. While applying for the visa, I applied for it under the section "Conditional admit, but allowed to start studies immediately" option.

Currently I am on the CSP waiting list and a couple of days ago, I received the enrollment letter from the uni. This letter only states I have been immatriculated as a student but doesn't state any conditions.

So my question is, have I selected the right option during the application? And Can/should I replace my conditional offer letter document with the enrollment letter once I'm out of the waiting list and before entering preliminary review?
