Backup options

Hi,

I have applied for Germany and Waiting for acceptance. But as we all know Germany is competitive and my profile is average. I have applied to university where I am fulfilling requirements. So, the chances of getting admission are 1:1

I am looking for backup option incase I won't get admission in Germany. Because I don't want to miss this intake as I already have 2 years gap after Bachelors. Can anyone suggest me some sure shot country/university. Where fees is less and admission/visa is easy and part time job opportunities are also available.

Please suggest.

TU Chemnitz Integrated Circuits

I have a low GPA (6.75), but I also have 1.5 years of experience as a Design Verification (DV) Engineer. I want to pursue a Master’s degree in VLSI, and I found the MSc in Integrated Circuits at Chemnitz University of Technology to be one of the best programs aligned with my goals.

I currently hold a B1 German language certificate and am pursuing B2. However, I’m worried that my low GPA might lead to rejection. I would appreciate some advice on how I can strengthen my profile and improve my chances of admission.

TU Dortmund application status says “Received” and asks for final transcript — does this mean conditional acceptance?

Hi everyone,

I applied for the Master Data Science program at TU Dortmund. My application status says “Received,” and in the remarks they asked me to upload my final transcript and degree certificate with translation.

Does this mean I am conditionally accepted until I submit the final documents? And after uploading them, will I get the admission letter directly?

Or can they still reject the application after that?

I would appreciate if someone who had the same experience could help.

TU Dresden NSE (Nanoelectronic Systems) Winter 2026 — Sharing my timeline, looking for others

Applied to TU Dresden's M.Sc. Nanoelectronic Systems for Winter 2026/27. Sharing my timeline and looking for others in the same boat.

My timeline:

  • Applied via uni-assist: 2nd April
  • Got Selma credentials: 27th April
  • Still waiting as of 21st May

My profile: B.Tech ECE, 7.96 CPI (2.2 German scale), 7.0 IELTS. Have a research paper submitted to a peer-reviewed journal.

From what I've seen on this subreddit, people with credentials from 21st–23rd April started getting results around May 19th. But it doesn't seem strictly chronological — some April 22nd people are still waiting while someone with April 23rd credentials already got an admit.

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

  1. Anyone with credentials around April 25–30 received a result yet?
  2. Do results come in batches or is it random?
  3. For those already admitted — rough GPA range?

Not looking for reassurance, just actual data points. Thanks in advance.

Tu Chemnitz Master Web engineering

Hey guys,

Today I received the credentials for the Chemnitz University of Technology portal for the M.Sc. Web Engineering course, and the status is currently showing “Received.” How much time does it usually take to get a decision, whether accepted or rejected?

My German student visa arrived in record time! | delhi vfs timeline | winter 2026 intake

Hey everyone, just wanted to drop my recent experience with the German student visa process through Delhi VFS, mostly to clear up some of the anxiety caused by older threads online. The current digital workflow is actually incredibly efficient.

Profile Context:
Age/Background: 31M, B.Tech
Work Exp: ~8 years in corporate auditing/regional management (which aligned perfectly with my course).
Language: IELTS 6.5 overall.
Admit: RWTH Aachen Business School (M.Sc. Sustainability Management: Technology, Analytics & Transformation).

The Checklist Phase:
APS: Applied on 24-01-2026 and received the digital certificate on Feb 10th.

Finances: Blocked account and incoming insurance setup went off without a hitch.

VFS Delhi Timeline:
[10-04-2026]: Application on CSP
[06-05-2026]: Correction mail received
[06-05-2026]: Correction done and appointment booking
[12-05-2026]: Appointment-biometrics at Delhi VFS.
[12-05-2026]: Received SMS/Email confirming the file reached the Embassy.
[18-05-2026]: Application processed- decision made.
[20-05-2026]: Passport dispatched mail.
[21-05-2026]: Passport received with the visa sticker!

The VFS Appointment Experience:
Honestly, it was way more chill than I anticipated. Since the preliminary document submission is handled via the digital portal beforehand, the in-person appointment is mostly administrative.
I showed up over-prepared with piles of photocopies, but they barely looked at them, they heavily rely on the digital ecosystem and their own printouts. No grueling interview or interrogation; just swift biometric enrollment, passport submission, and a bit of waiting. The whole process wrapped up in about three hours ( extra time was logged due to server issue).

Key Takeaway:
If your academic/professional narrative makes sense and your paperwork matches the portal uploads, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. The process has been majorly streamlined for the 2026 intake.

Students in Germany: Does it help to send cold emails to professors for HiWi positions?

So for context: I'm already a student in Germany. I'm doing my master's in a relatively small city. There's not much going on in my department. Rarely does a position for Studentische Hilfskraft ever come out, especially in my department (Economics).

I was thinking about sending emails to professors in my university or universities in neighbouring cities. But I just wanted to ask if that has been helpful to anybody in the past, especially considering the fact that professors are already pretty busy and I want to be mindful not to waste their time.

Admitted for Master's at TUHH in Microelectronics and Microsystems

Greetings,

I am a student from the ECE based out of India and have industry experience of almost 3 years. I have received an admit letter from TUHH for winter semester 2026 in Microelectronics and Microsystems.

Has anyone applied for the same course for this winter semester? How's the experience in Hamburg (if you are already in Hamburg), what's the rent ranging from for flats?, are people very friendly to foreigners and if there are any dorms near TUHH.

I had received the admit letter from Siegen as well but I want to stick to TUHH.

Universität Rostock

I just applied for the University of Rostock for a master's in computer science on May 21st, which has a deadline by May 31, via Uniassist. This is my 10th application. At this point, I am applying just for the sake of the number alone, but I didn't realize the deadline was this close; I was delusional to think it was on June 15. What is the chance this will reach the university?

Can German universities give conditional admission before A Level results are released?

Hello everyone,

I am an international student and I would like to ask if anyone has experienced a similar situation with German university applications through Uni-Assist.

I took 3 Cambridge A Levels, which are equivalent to the German university entrance qualification (HZB). However, my official Cambridge A Level results will only be released in mid-August 2026.

The problem is that the application deadline for my planned university is 26 June 2026, so I cannot submit my official A Level certificates before the deadline.

At the moment, I already have:

  • my school graduation certificate (Abschlusszeugnis),
  • my GPA/transcripts from grades 10, 11, and 12,
  • and an official confirmation from my school stating that I took 3 Cambridge A Level exams and that the results will be released in mid-August.

My question is:

What do German universities usually do in this kind of situation? Is there any possibility to receive a conditional admission (or preliminary admission) first, and then submit the official Cambridge certificates later in August?

My goal is mainly to receive something from the university that I can use for my German student visa application at the embassy. I already have my blocked account and financial proof prepared.

Has any international student here experienced something similar with Uni-Assist or German universities?

I would really appreciate any advice or shared experiences. Thank you!

Help me regarding APS India, are digilocker marksheets accepted? Or do I need to have originals issued by the board

I applied for APS on 13th May using marksheets downloaded from digilocker and printed on bond paper. Today I recieved a mail stating "Please share original copy of Class X and XII marksheets issued by the Board." Does that mean digilocker documents are not accepted? My 12th marksheet has not been issued yet. What do I do in this case. I missed the call by APS Delhi and they do not accept calls, so do I wait for a call back?

Student in Germany: 20h Werkstudent + short-term freelance NGO work possible?

Hi everyone,

I am an international student in Germany (Munich) and currently working as a Werkstudent officially registered for 20 hours/week.

I have a situation for June–August only and I am trying to understand what would be legally possible.

An NGO I previously worked with received funding from the City of Munich and they need to hire someone during June–August for a social work project. Because I already work 20h/week as a Werkstudent, a normal Minijob would likely exceed the student working limit.

We are exploring whether I could instead work with them as a freelancer (Freiberufler / selbständige Tätigkeit) for this limited period.

The confusing part is:
- My current Zusatzblatt still says “selbständige Tätigkeit nicht erlaubt”
- However, I previously received a written confirmation from the immigration office stating “selbständige Tätigkeit erlaubt”
- I also heard there were legal changes regarding freelance work for students.

Additional context:
- This would only be for June–August
- From September I will switch to a job-seeking residence permit after graduation, so this is only a short transition issue
- The NGO mentioned they could ask the City of Munich whether freelance hiring would be possible for this funded role

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone done freelance work while on a student residence permit in Germany?
  2. If there is written confirmation saying “selbständige Tätigkeit erlaubt”, does that override the wording on the Zusatzblatt?
  3. Would this kind of short-term NGO freelance work likely be considered acceptable, or could it create issues because I am already a 20h/week Werkstudent?

I will also contact the Munich immigration office, but I wanted to hear if anyone has experience with a similar situation.

Thanks a lot!

University of Siegen MSc. Mechatronics

Hello everyone!

Has anyone received any communication from University of Siegen particularly the MSc. Mechatronics course regarding any further process or even the acceptance letter?

I know the university has tests and interviews for other programs but I don't think that's applicable for the mechatronics course.

I applied for the course on 24th April and since the University says that it takes 2 weeks to respond with a decision, should I just assume that I got rejected?

Here's my profile (if it helps):

Bachelor's Course: Mechanical Engineering

German grade: 1.4 (9.07 indian CGPA)

IELTS: 8

Urgent help regarding FAU Erlangen Nürnberg university payment fee for the application for Masters in Data Science

I am waiting for the admission results of Uni Hamburg which will be announced on 27th May but the application period for FAU is till 31st May. If I don't get admitted in Uni Hamburg then only I find it worth it to apply for FAU because the application fees are 100 euros.

So my main important question is, can I apply to FAU on the 27th or 28th May by paying the application fees of 100 euros? Is it possible that FAU will consider my application if the payment is done within the application deadline but the payment receipt is generated or received by FAU after the application deadline?
