Confused about choosing a university for Master's in Germany — am I filtering universities the right way?

Confused about choosing a university for Master's in Germany — am I filtering universities the right way?

Hello everyone!

I recently completed my B.Tech in CSE with a CGPA of 8.01, and I’m planning to pursue my Master’s abroad, most likely in Germany.

I’ve already completed around 75% of my process — I scored 7.0 in IELTS, received my APS certificate, and have my provisional degree. Now I’m at the university-shortlisting stage, and this is where I’m getting confused.

My current criteria for choosing a university are:

- Zero/very low tuition fees

- Low cost of living

- A city with good availability of part-time jobs

- Good opportunities for full-time jobs after graduation

- Exams/coursework that are easy to moderate rather than extremely difficult

The problem is that I’m struggling to find a university/city that satisfies all of these criteria together.

So I wanted to ask people who have already gone through this process: Am I approaching university selection the right way, or should I change the way I’m filtering my options? Which criteria should I prioritize, and which ones am I being too strict about?

I was also quite confused about choosing my Master’s specialization. Initially, I considered exploring something different, but eventually I decided to continue with CSE/CS-related programs because I’m honestly a little scared to move into a completely new field.

Would appreciate advice from people who have studied or are currently studying in Germany, especially regarding university selection, city/job opportunities, course difficulty, and choosing the right specialization with an 8.01 CGPA.

Thanks in advance!
