My happy place

Gang! It's been a minute since I posted. I've made a few changes since Massenomics toured my gym last year: I sold my leg press, bought a CTM-1, downgraded my trap bar and GHD for more lightweight space-saving options, beefed up my belt squat setup, and finally got a stand for my Powerblocks. Still doing lots with the Voltras, still doing the same FBB programming. This is my absolute favorite room in the house and now that the weather is decent enough to lift with the garage door open, I couldn't be happier - or sweatier.

To call out a few of the favorites: Eleiko Prestera Rack, Concept 2 BikeErg, Torque Relentless Ripper (SkiErg), FA Hyper Pro, Rogue CTM-1, Rogue bumpers, Belt Fed Strength belt, Hammer Strength angled flat bench, Hammer Strength powerblocks, Marrs bar + Darko anchors, Beyond Power Voltras, Darko QuickMount ;), American Barbell Chewy Bar, Rogue Chan bar. And thanks to my beautiful wife for the Neon sign and bougie folding chair.

No wall space? No problem. DIY mirror mount

Here's a DIY project I did years ago and I'm still proud of. Lowes bathroom mirror on plywood with a monitor mount so it can be angled and rotated - gives good coverage from anywhere in the gym with minimal footprint. I used construction adhesive and mirror clips, plus a bunch of very short screws. It has held up great!

Want to downgrade my laser setup, looking for recommendations

I am strongly considering trying to sell my large professional CO2 and Fiber lasers and downgrading to a hobbyist machine. Maybe something like a laserpecker, but I'm not familiar with the current lineup or competitors - Any recommendations? What are some machines I should be considering?

  • Desktop-sized machine
  • Open to laser type, but probably a dual fiber/diode combo or all-in-one. Will want to mark stainless and do powder coat removal (tumblers), also like the idea of marking plastic
  • Preferably something with a rotary attachment
  • Preferably something that can be run with Lightburn

For context, I have a home workshop with a few 3D printers and engraving machines - including a small Gravostyle rotary engraver, a 60W CO2 laser (Thunder Laser Nova 24), and a 60W fiber laser (enclosed JPT M7 MOPA from SFX laser).

The CO2 and Fiber machines are large professional machines that I bought because I got them at a good price but I'm just a hobbyist - laser engraving has been a hobby of mine since I was young and worked in a jewelry store. In the past ~5 years I've been using my workshop to do occasional jobs for local businesses and schools and to make custom gifts for friends and family, all through word of mouth and my local Facebook groups. It's a small side hustle and I enjoy it when I have spare time.

Lately, I have not had spare time. and we are doing renovations to the workshop and would like to reclaim the space. I still want the ability to do the occasional gifts or custom item for my friends and family but plan to sunset anything higher volume. Thanks!!
