So… where’s the new album?

Back in May the release date for the new album was revealed to be October 2nd. During the following months I have seen almost no updates on this, especially no track list or album art. Only this one Instagram post in August in which Käärijä said he’s not releasing it yet because it’s “shit”, and many commenters seemed to have treated that as a joke. I couldn’t find any article or interview about it either.

So what are your thoughts on this?

Recently bought these lithops, what is are these webs and insect?

Two weeks ago I bought these lithops. When I came home I found out they were in very wet, almost muddy, compact soil. I removed as much of the soil as I could and repotted them in a mix of soil and lots of perlite. I know it is etiolated.

But does anyone know what is going on now? Are these webs possible spider mites? And is that a catterpillar or worse? All advice is welcome.

I'm keeping them indoors, btw. It's my first time having these.

Discussion: how do you protect your plants during a heat wave?

Summer has only just started and in Europe we're already experiencing record breaking heat.

Personally I don't have the space to bring plants inside and my balcony is too small to hide plants from the sun. I feel like there isn't much I can do besides hope for the best.

How do you deal with the heat on your balcony? If you're also experiencing a heat wave at this moment, what do you do to minimize damage? Or how have you dealt with it in the past?

I'd love to hear about your experiences, let's discuss!

New rule: no third-party survey and app links

Thank you for voting on our previous poll about survey and app links! Since most people preferred a ban, from now on all posts and comments that involve a link to a third-party app or a link to a third-party survey are not allowed. Asking for feedback on apps and research projects will be allowed but this feedback will only be received by commenting, messaging or a reddit poll. Users may also ask for permission to send app and survey links via messaging. The rules have been updated to reflect this change.

If there are any questions or concerns, please reach out. Happy gardening! 🌱☀

Opinions needed regarding surveys & apps on this sub

Hi balcony gardeners! I hope your plants are all thriving 😊 This week I would like your help to make this subreddit even more suited to your needs.

Occasionally, we see posts here that involve a survey or an app. Some users ask for permission to post beforehand, some don’t. So far I’ve allowed them, as long as it wasn’t pure self-promotion without context. Reactions from this community when it comes to surveys and apps seem to be mixed so far: for every few positive comments I also receive a report. I also have some safety concerns, which I’ll explain below.

Therefore, I’d like you to vote whether you would like surveys and apps on this subreddit or if you’d rather ban them.

What does a survey or app post on this subreddit entail?
So far, we’ve mostly seen two kinds of posts:
-          A user has made or wants to make an app and wants feedback on how useful it is or what the app should include; it involves downloading the app or opening it in a web browser.
-          A user is doing a research project and wants to know more about the challenges balcony gardeners face; the user is asking to fill in a survey on a third-party website.

If the majority of the community decides to vote for a ban, my idea is that this potential ban will include all posts and comments that involve a link to a third-party app or a link to a third-party survey. Asking for feedback on apps and research projects will be allowed but this feedback will only be received by commenting, messaging or a reddit poll. Users may also ask for permission to send app and survey links via messaging.

Why this focus on third-party apps or third-party surveys? How does this differ from clicking on a regular link?
Besides that it has been reported as spam by users numerous times, surveys and apps often ask to fill in personal information. I cannot guarantee that this personal information is stored safely. I also cannot guarantee the safety of the app itself. It could contain viruses or breach privacy laws in your country. Of course downloading or taking part in such things is everyone’s own responsibility, but by keeping the discussions to reddit we do not only ensure more safety, it might also result in more valuable discussions for the community, because feedback will take place in the comment section or by a reddit poll.

Please vote for your preference in the poll above! And let me know if anything is unclear or if you have different ideas. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

PS: I realize this post is not entirely neutral, for which I apologize. I just want this subreddit to be a relaxed space for everyone, without anyone having to think too much about safety. I might be overprotective lol.

Happy gardening! 🪴☀️
