I know I can put sharps in the regular garbage in a hard container marked as such but I wanted to bring my sharps to a designated place per state law to have them disposed. I walked into a ER today and told that unless I have my sharps already in a sharps container they wouldn’t take them. Isn’t that the point? I had most in sharps containers but about 15 I could not fit.

What would someone do if they wanted to dispose of sharps but had no sharps container in NYC? Are hospitals required to take them even if not in a container? I assumed there would be a sharps disposal I could put mine in myself. I didn’t think they would do it for me.

I went to a doctor after and just put the extras in their container in my exam room.
