My last laptop stopped working about two to three years ago and I have decided it's time to get a new one. My old one was gifted to me by my parents so I've never bought my own laptop before but I'm aware that there are a ton of different factors to think about when buying a laptop and I don't have a lot of computer knowledge to know what it all means. I basically just want a very simple laptop that has the capability to run games (not very high end). I filled out the questionnaire form below.
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
200-1500 is my budget, though if possible I'd like to not use the whole budget. I expect to spend around 500-1000?
Are you open to refurbs/used?
As long as it's still in decently good condition I'm cool with it being used.
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
I am just looking for a basic laptop that can run games.
How important is weight and thinness to you?
Not important
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
I'd prefer more like a 16"-17" screen, though I'm not super picky.
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
I expect to play games like Roblox or Minecraft, maybe The Sims?
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
As mentioned in the question above, stuff like Roblox, Minecraft, and The Sims.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
I am not super picky, however I do not want a MacBook.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I'm super not picky. I don't game super often and I mainly just want to use the laptop for casual use but I want it to be able to run games. I don't play any big high end games, Minecraft and The Sims are probably the biggest ones I'd play (hence why I listed them as my main examples). I'd also play stuff like Danganronpa or Doki Doki Literature Club. I don't know exactly what my last laptop was.
