Allied literally burned me
I’m newer to security and never realized that complaining about Allied Universal was so commonplace.

I show up to work and they are shorthanded, ( big surprise) so they removed me from where I usually work inside a warehouse to the outside to cover access control for a gate.
It’s 85° and humid and there is zero shade except for a shitty below average umbrella that doesn’t even open.
The supervisor has me stand there and assures me over and over and over “it’s just for a little while OK just a short little while. “
Turns out she forgot about me and I spent 16 hours outside .
I made sure to drink plenty of fluids that I just happened to bring:
-800mL gatorade
-500 mL gatorlyte
-1.8 L water
-500mL diet coke
-250mL water bottle
And i STILLLLL got dehydrated.
I got a sunburn .
The next morning, I woke up with the most painful sore throat, and a weird burning sensation on my actual eyeball on the left side only. My skin was in pain all over and I felt weak, but I push pushed through to get to my next shift at 4 AM.
On this shift, I got to be around noon and I was feeling lightheaded, I left after much convincing.
Went home and laid down with a big old Gatorade and passed out (sleep) in the air-conditioning.

when I woke up, I thought maybe I should head out to urgent care to see a medical professional. Three days of feeling this way seemed excessive.
It turns out that the sunburn was pulling so much water out of my blood to heal itself that I couldn’t drink enough water to get properly hydrated.
It caused my heart to have inverse T waves that are usually associated with heart attacks, but in my case were from the dehydration.
And then, that pain in my eye? Yeah that was from the sun exposure, mainly on my left side as I was facing north on the West Coast… It burned my literal freaking eyeball.
Sore throat was from the extreme dehydration and I could go on and on it was bullshit

When I brought it up to management, they basically blamed me for not speaking up despite speaking up multiple multiple multiple times.
One of the higher ups like three supervisors above the one that put me out there then has a sit down with me a few days later and tells me that there’s a shade available to me… Shade only available on brakes which out of 16 hours amount about 50 minutes out of the whole day.
Shade that is available about 30 yards away, so then she brings up the umbrella.
Piece of shit umbrella doesn’t even open.
Says nothing and keeps blaming me never took accountability in the slightest.
-
Contacted a few attorneys because stuff like this was always happening… Nobody could take my case and you know why?
Because they already have so many class action lawsuits against them and they’re shitty company
-
TLDR: ALLIED universal put me out on guard for 16 hours in the sun and forgot about me.
I kept bringing it up, but they blamed me.
Definitely going to pursue a lawsuit and I’m never working there again.
